CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Ford Edge
overall

Summary
With 2,617 currently listed for sale and an average price of $15,656.00, 30.4% of 2019 Ford Edges for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Ford Edge 4.77 / 5 stars.
74.9% of 2019 Edge models on CarGurus are accident free.
The 2019 Ford Edge features a spacious interior, strong performance with its EcoBoost engine, and a variety of standard and available features, making it a solid choice for families and long trips.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Ford Edge remains a competitive option in the midsize SUV market, offering a blend of performance, comfort, and practicality. With its EcoBoost 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 250 horsepower, the Edge provides a satisfying driving experience, especially with the available all-wheel drive. The introduction of the ST trim adds a performance-oriented variant, featuring a more powerful 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine that delivers 335 horsepower, appealing to those who desire a sportier drive without sacrificing family-friendly features.
Despite some criticisms regarding its dated interior design, the Edge excels in providing ample rear passenger space and cargo capacity, making it suitable for families. The 2019 model also includes Ford's Co-Pilot360 suite of safety features, enhancing its appeal to safety-conscious buyers. While some users have noted sluggish acceleration in non-ST trims, the overall package of space, comfort, and technology makes the 2019 Ford Edge a well-rounded choice for those in the market for a midsize SUV.

Excellent driver, exceptional roominess front AND rear seat. Tons more space behind the second row than my Lincoln MKC (my trade in). I’m blown away that this Ford Edge is more quiet and rides better than the smaller MKC. Disappointments are no power lift gate, no garage door opener feature. Very comfortable leather seats, and the SEL comes standard with many safety features. So far very satisfied.

Is the 2019 Ford Edge a good car?
Yes — the 2019 Ford Edge earns a 4.77/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.
Owners consistently praise its performance, comfort, and spacious interior, and many also like the feature set for family use and long trips. The overview points to a midsize SUV that works well for daily commuting and road trips, with a balance of power and efficiency. Even so, the cabin is described as dated, so you should weigh the strong utility and driving appeal against the older-feeling interior. Good and great deals account for 30.2% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2019 Ford Edge reliable?
Owners rate it 4.77/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The user feedback points to a vehicle that many owners find reliable and dependable for family use, with praise for its strong power and comfort over long trips. The expert driving notes also support that impression, saying the standard turbocharged engine “gets the job done and won’t let you down.” Ford’s maintenance-friendly ownership experience is reinforced by the mention that the first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not worn down by heavy use.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford Edge?
At 74.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on signs of prior bodywork, uneven panel gaps, tire wear, and any evidence that the electronics or driver-assistance features have been repaired poorly. Because this model year mixes strong safety equipment with a dated cabin, condition matters a lot more than brochure features.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base SE comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, push-button start, and rain-sensing wipers, but it lacks the upgraded comfort and convenience features found higher up the range. The SEL adds black roof rails, dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable front seats, rear parking sensors, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The Titanium adds 19-inch alloy wheels and makes leather upholstery, wireless charging, and remote start standard, while the ST adds a blacked-out grille, 20-inch wheels, and performance styling.
- Powertrain: Non-ST trims use a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic and available AWD. The ST uses a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 with 335 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque, and it is AWD only. The base front-wheel-drive setup returns 22 mpg city, 29 highway, 25 combined, while the ST returns 19/26/21.
- Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, automatic high-beams, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Above the SE, you can add Co-Pilot360 Assist+, which brings adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, evasive steering assist, and lane-centering.
- Infotainment: The base system uses a 4.2-inch non-touchscreen with USB, WiFi hotspot, streaming music, Bluetooth, and voice recognition. An 8-inch Sync 3 system is available on the SEL and standard on the Titanium and ST, and it adds Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa integration.
- Fuel efficiency: The most efficient version returns 22 mpg city, 29 highway, 25 combined, while the ST returns 19/26/21.
Which 2019 Ford Edge trim should I buy?
The 2019 Ford Edge is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, Titanium, and ST.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The SE gives you the essentials, but its 4.2-inch infotainment setup feels dated and its feature list is relatively sparse compared with the higher trims.
- Sweet-spot trim: The SEL is the best value because it adds meaningful comfort and convenience upgrades, and it can be optioned with features that make it feel much closer to the higher trims.
- Premium/top trim: The Titanium is the best choice if you want the most polished everyday experience, with standard leather, remote start, wireless charging, and the upgraded audio system.
- Off-road trim: The ST is the performance pick, but its higher price and sport-focused setup make it less compelling if you mainly want a normal daily driver.
Ford’s Co-Pilot360 suite is standard, and the Assist+ package is available on trims above the SE.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford Edge?
This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively without expecting deep distress pricing.
- Deal availability: 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,608 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.69% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 74.9% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $15,305.62, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Ford Edge's resale value?
The current average of $15,656 sits slightly below last year's $17,145.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at a strong price and keep the vehicle in clean condition, you can reduce the impact of further depreciation. The Edge’s broad appeal as a roomy, practical SUV should help it remain marketable, but the dated interior may keep resale gains in check.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.77/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2019 Ford Edge safe?
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard, and it includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, automatic high-beams, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. That gives you a strong baseline of driver assistance even on lower trims. If you want more capability, Co-Pilot360 Assist+ adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, evasive steering assist, and lane-centering on trims above the SE. The main caveat is that the base trim’s tech and convenience setup is modest, so you may want to step up if you value a more complete safety-and-tech package.
Should I buy a 2019 Ford Edge or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 74.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.69% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.77/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2019 stands out for its available ST performance trim and standard Co-Pilot360 safety suite.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $17,199, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $15,656 average.
- It adds updated tech and safety while keeping the same basic midsize SUV formula.
The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2019 is the smarter buy because pricing has softened and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year, the 2020 is the cleaner alternative for shoppers who want the latest updates and don’t mind the higher asking price.
