How much does the 2019 BMW X7 cost?

Prices have softened 15.77% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 625 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2019 BMW X7 a good car?

Yes — the 2019 BMW X7 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.3/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its luxurious feel, spaciousness, comfort, and handling, and they also like the wealth of options available in upgraded models. That lines up well with its role as BMW’s dedicated three-row flagship SUV, especially if you want a large luxury SUV built for family hauling rather than a smaller SUV stretched to fit. The market also shows 38.7% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2019 BMW X7 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle people feel good about living with over time, especially because it is described as luxurious, spacious, and comfortable. The expert drive notes also emphasize smooth operation and refined power delivery, which supports the impression that the X7 is built to be easy to count on in daily use. BMW also says the system can be updated over the air, which helps reduce some ownership friction.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a large, highly optioned luxury SUV can become expensive if electronics or complex features need attention.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 BMW X7?

At 74.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a full vehicle-history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, alignment, and any signs of prior repair. Because this is a large luxury SUV with a lot of available equipment, you should also focus on whether the comfort, tech, and driver-assistance features work as intended. If you plan to use the third row often, make sure the seat access and rear-seat functionality suit your needs.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The xDrive40i comes with all-wheel drive, an air suspension, 4-zone auto climate control, a panoramic sunroof, adaptive LEDs, and power everything, while the xDrive50i adds the V8, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon stereo, multi-contour front seats, and genuine leather. The xDrive40i is the better-value choice if you want the core luxury and space without paying for the more expensive engine upgrade.
• Powertrain: The xDrive40i uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 with 335 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque, while the xDrive50i upgrades to a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 with 456 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. The inline-6 is described as smooth and linear, while the V8 delivers stronger thrust and a 5.2-second 0-60 time.
• Safety package: The standard setup includes parking sensors front and rear, forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-departure warning. The Driving Assistance Pro package adds adaptive cruise with lane-keep and lane-change assist, evasive steering, front cross-traffic alert, and BMW’s automated driving system, while the Parking Assistance package adds a 360-degree camera and automated parking.
• Infotainment: A 12.3-inch touchscreen handles navigation and the updated iDrive interface, and it includes subscription-based Apple CarPlay. The system can be updated over the air, and the available rear-seat entertainment system adds individual screen control and theater mode.
• Fuel efficiency: The inline-6 returns 20 mpg city and 25 mpg highway, while the V8 is rated at 15 mpg city and 21 mpg highway.

Which 2019 BMW X7 trim should I buy?

The 2019 BMW X7 is offered in 2 trim levels: xDrive40i, xDrive50i.

Here's the short version:

• xDrive40i: This is the best-value trim if you want the X7’s core appeal without stretching to the pricier V8 model. You still get all-wheel drive, an air suspension, 4-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, adaptive LEDs, and the 12.3-inch touchscreen with navigation and Apple CarPlay.
• xDrive50i: Choose this if you want the stronger V8, the extra performance, and the upgraded luxury touches such as the 16-speaker Harman Kardon stereo, multi-contour front seats, and genuine leather. It suits you best if you care more about power and premium feel than value.

The available safety upgrades are the Driving Assistance Pro package and the Parking Assistance package, so check whether a used example has those features if they matter to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 BMW X7?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and enough price softness to make comparison shopping worthwhile.

• Deal availability: 38.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 625 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.77% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 74.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $28,213, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 BMW X7's resale value?

The current average of $28,213 sits slightly below last year's $33,497.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that pricing pressure has been real, so condition, mileage, and equipment will matter a lot when it comes time to list the vehicle. Well-kept examples with desirable options should still stand out more than average ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 BMW X7 safe?

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety equipment includes parking sensors front and rear, forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-departure warning. If you want more advanced assistance, the Driving Assistance Pro package adds adaptive cruise with lane-keep and lane-change assist, evasive steering, front cross-traffic alert, and BMW’s automated driving system. The Parking Assistance package adds a 360-degree camera and automated parking.

BMW notes that the 2019 X7 had not yet been tested by NHTSA or IIHS at the time of review, so there are no crash-test ratings to cite here. The expert commentary also flags the vehicle’s height and weight as reasons to pay attention to rollover performance.

Should I buy a 2019 BMW X7 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 38.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 74.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.77% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It stands out as BMW’s dedicated three-row flagship SUV, giving you a true passenger-focused alternative to relying on a smaller SUV with an optional third row.

The bottom line: If you want the X7’s original formula and you find a clean, well-equipped example at a strong price, the 2019 is a compelling buy. If you’re shopping mainly on value and want more room to compare equipment and condition, you may also want to look at nearby model years and choose the best-maintained example rather than focusing on the badge year alone.
