How much does the 2018 Toyota Highlander cost?

Prices have softened 5.37% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,068 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2018 Toyota Highlander a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Toyota Highlander earns a 4.6/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its reliability, spaciousness, and smooth ride, and many also like its family-friendly features and comfortable daily driving manners. The Highlander fits especially well if you want a practical, comfort-focused midsize SUV with useful versatility and a reputation for long-term dependability. With 35.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2018 Toyota Highlander reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback highlights reliability, and drivers also describe it as dependable and smooth to live with over time. That combination matters if you plan to keep the vehicle for years, because a strong ownership reputation can reduce the risk of regret on a used purchase. For long-term buyers, the main risk is finding a poorly maintained example rather than a model with weak fundamentals.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Toyota Highlander?

At 62% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, especially if a listing looks unusually well priced. Put inspection priority on body condition, signs of prior repair, and how well the cabin and mechanicals have been maintained. If possible, focus on examples that show consistent upkeep and clean condition rather than just the lowest asking price.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Toyota Highlander?

This looks like a moderate market, so you can buy now if the right listing checks your boxes, but you should still compare carefully.

• Deal availability: 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,068 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.37% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,228, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Toyota Highlander's resale value?

The current average of $21,356 sits slightly below last year's $22,566.

That softer pricing can help you buy more carefully now, but it also means future resale will depend heavily on how well the vehicle is maintained and how clean its history is. A model with strong demand and a reputation for family usefulness tends to hold buyer interest better than one with a weaker ownership story. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintenance documented, you should be in a better position when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Toyota Highlander or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.37% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $19,955, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $21,356 average.
• It brings a refreshed look and standard safety tech.

The bottom line: The 2018 is the better all-around pick if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, satisfaction, and inventory. If your budget is tighter, the 2017 is the smarter value play because it costs less while still delivering the Highlander’s core family-friendly strengths.
