Is the 2018 Lincoln Navigator a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Lincoln Navigator earns a 4.9/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

Drivers consistently praise its comfort, luxury, and interior space, and they also highlight its strong towing ability and overall performance. In use-case terms, that makes it especially appealing if you want a full-size luxury SUV that can haul people and gear while still feeling distinctive rather than purely utilitarian.

With 31.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2018 Lincoln Navigator reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a vehicle that feels comfortable, luxurious, and spacious, with many owners saying they can count on it for hauling and towing. The expert review also emphasizes that the Navigator’s powertrain and overall execution reflect a modern, capable full-size SUV rather than an old-school compromise.

Black Label models also include an upgraded maintenance program and free car washes any time, which adds a useful ownership perk for shoppers considering that trim.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that higher-end features and complex systems can be costly to sort out if prior maintenance was inconsistent.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Lincoln Navigator?

At 71.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with premium equipment. Focus on condition, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the cabin technology and convenience features operate as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Premiere trim is already well equipped with 20-inch wheels, LED lighting, heated first- and second-row seats, power-folding second- and third-row seating, a 10-inch touchscreen with navigation, and a 12-inch reconfigurable instrument cluster. The Select adds adaptive suspension, 22-inch wheels, a heated steering wheel, wireless charging, power side running boards, and a 360-degree camera, while Reserve adds a panoramic dual-pane sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, and unique 22-inch wheels. Black Label adds premium theme treatments, the heavy-duty trailer package, and the technology package.
• Powertrain: The Navigator uses a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 with 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard, with four-wheel drive available on lower trims and standard on Reserve and Black Label.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes front- and side-impact airbags, LATCH, tire pressure monitoring, a reversing camera, Side Wind Stabilization, and blind-spot warning. Lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning and mitigation with pedestrian detection, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go are included on Black Label.
• Infotainment: You get a 10-inch touchscreen with Sync 3, plus Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa through AppLink. The system also includes physical volume and tuning knobs, and rear-seat entertainment is available with 10-inch screens.
• Fuel efficiency: The Navigator returns 16 mpg city and 23 highway with rear-wheel drive, or 16 city and 21 highway with four-wheel drive.

Which 2018 Lincoln Navigator trim should I buy?

The 2018 Lincoln Navigator is offered in 4 trim levels: Premiere, Select, Reserve, and Black Label.

Here's the short version:

• Premiere: This is the value play if you want the Navigator experience without stretching into the higher trims. It already brings a long list of luxury and convenience features, including heated seats in the first two rows, power-folding seating, navigation, and the large digital displays.
• Select: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds meaningful upgrades like adaptive suspension, a heated steering wheel, wireless charging, power side running boards, and a 360-degree camera without jumping all the way to the top end.
• Reserve: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel, especially the panoramic dual-pane sunroof and heated and ventilated front seats. It’s the trim that starts to feel especially rich without going fully into the Black Label experience.
• Black Label: This is the luxury showcase trim, with premium themes, the heavy-duty trailer package, and the technology package. It also unlocks the most advanced safety content, including lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning and mitigation with pedestrian detection, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Lincoln Navigator?

The market looks selective rather than overheated, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 638 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.02% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 71.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,760, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Lincoln Navigator's resale value?

The current average of $25,760 sits slightly below last year's $29,278.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may temper future resale gains if you plan to sell soon. If you buy at the right price, you reduce the risk of taking a bigger depreciation hit later. Strong condition and clean history matter even more in a luxury SUV like this, because buyers tend to pay up for well-kept examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Lincoln Navigator safe?

The 2018 Lincoln Navigator earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include front- and side-impact airbags, LATCH, tire pressure monitoring, a reversing camera, Side Wind Stabilization, and blind-spot warning. Black Label adds lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning and mitigation with pedestrian detection, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, so safety equipment is more complete at the top of the range.

A key caveat is that some of the more advanced driver-assistance features are not standard across the lineup, so you’ll want to verify exactly which trim you’re looking at before you buy.

Should I buy a 2018 Lincoln Navigator or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 71.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.02% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 model year is highlighted for its sharp redesign, stronger sense of American luxury, and broad appeal as a full-size SUV with real towing and hauling ability.

The bottom line: The 2018 is the right path if you want the redesigned Navigator’s style, comfort, and capability at a softened used price. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you should still shop carefully and compare condition, because the best examples will justify paying closer to the top of the range.
