How much does the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe cost?

Prices have softened 13.77% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,722 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing prices and trims.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe a good car?

Generally — the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe earns a 4.3/5 user rating and a 6.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the spaciousness and comfort, and they also highlight its powerful performance and updated features. That lines up with the Tahoe’s role as a full-size SUV that buyers choose as much for styling and V8 character as for utility. Even so, the overview makes clear that you’re not buying it because it’s the most rational people-mover or cargo hauler in the class.

With 33.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s enough market activity to give you room to shop carefully.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with many owners describing the Tahoe as spacious, comfortable, and strong-performing over time. The expert review also emphasizes that this is a vehicle people buy for its character and capability, which tends to matter when you’re thinking about long-term satisfaction rather than just short-term specs.

If you’re shopping used, the main long-term ownership risk is paying too much for a truck that may have been used hard or maintained inconsistently, so condition and history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe?

At 61.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then focus your inspection on signs of prior body damage, uneven panel gaps, and wear that doesn’t match the mileage. Because this model is often bought for family duty and image as much as utility, it’s worth paying close attention to how well the interior, electronics, and safety systems have been maintained. A clean-looking Tahoe can still hide expensive issues if it has accident history or deferred maintenance.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Tahoe’s appeal centers on its styling and upscale feel, but the base setup is still positioned as a family SUV rather than a luxury model. Higher trims add more premium equipment and a more distinctive appearance, so you should compare feature content carefully if you want the best value.
• Powertrain: The Tahoe offers a 5.3-liter V8 with 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The available 6.2-liter V8 brings more power and a stronger performance character, but it also comes with higher fuel costs.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assistance equipment includes blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, low-speed automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist. Adaptive cruise control with high-speed automatic emergency braking is reserved for Premier trim, and it is not available with the larger 6.2-liter V8.
• Infotainment: The Tahoe uses the MyLink system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, OnStar subscription services, a Wi-Fi hotspot, physical knobs and buttons, and a hidden cubby behind the screen. It also has an 8-inch driver information center and available rear-seat entertainment.
• Fuel efficiency: The 6.2-liter V8 averaged 17 mpg on the test loop, and Chevrolet recommends premium fuel for that engine.

Which 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe trim should I buy?

The 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe is offered in 3 trim levels: LS, Premier, and RST.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the Tahoe’s core size, V8 character, and family-friendly safety tech without paying for the most expensive appearance or comfort upgrades.
• Premier: This is the best-value choice if you want the most complete Tahoe experience, because it adds more premium equipment and is the trim that gets adaptive cruise control with high-speed automatic emergency braking.
• RST: Choose this if you care most about the Tahoe’s style and performance personality. The RST package and available 6.2-liter V8 give it the most aggressive look and the strongest enthusiast appeal.

For safety-minded shoppers, note that adaptive cruise control with high-speed automatic emergency braking is limited to Premier trim and is not available with the 6.2-liter V8.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,722 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.77% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,701, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe's resale value?

The current average of $21,701 sits slightly below last year's $25,166.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that condition, mileage, and accident history will matter even more when the broader market is already softer. Well-kept examples should still draw interest because the Tahoe has strong name recognition and broad family-SUV appeal.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe safe?

The Tahoe gets a mediocre three-star rating for rollover resistance from NHTSA, while earning five-star ratings in all other NHTSA tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevrolet includes blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, low-speed automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist across the Tahoe lineup. Adaptive cruise control with high-speed automatic emergency braking is limited to Premier trim, and it is not available with the larger 6.2-liter V8. The Tahoe also includes Teen Driver technology through MyLink and Rear Seat Reminder, both of which add useful family-focused protection.

The rollover result is the main caveat here, so if safety is a top priority, you should pay close attention to how you’ll use the SUV and whether you’re comfortable with its size and handling traits.

Should I buy a 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.77% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The expert review says this year is best understood as a Tahoe you buy for styling and V8 character rather than pure practicality.

The bottom line: If you want the Tahoe’s look, sound, and full-size presence, the 2018 is a reasonable buy because prices have eased and inventory is healthy. If you’re more price-sensitive, you should still compare nearby years and individual condition closely, since the best deal may come down to the cleanest example rather than the newest badge.
