How much does the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe cost?

Prices have softened 13.18% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,710 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe a good car?

Generally — the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe earns a 4.27/5 user rating and a 6.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the Tahoe’s spaciousness and comfort, and they also like its powerful performance and updated features. That lines up with the Tahoe’s role as a big, image-driven SUV: you’re buying it for presence, family-friendly comfort, and the V8 character more than pure practicality.

With 33.7% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe reliable?

Owners rate it 4.27/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many shoppers, with owners often describing the Tahoe as a vehicle they can count on for family use. The expert drive notes also emphasize that this is a straightforward SUV rather than a complicated one, which can be a plus when you want something familiar and easy to live with.

Chevrolet also includes useful ownership-minded features such as Teen Driver technology and OnStar services, which can help you monitor use and respond to issues. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the basic formula and more about how hard the SUV was used, especially if it spent time towing or carrying a family load every day.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe?

At 61.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then focus your inspection on body condition, repair quality, and signs of hard use. Because this is a large SUV that many owners buy for family duty, it’s smart to pay close attention to wear items, interior condition, and whether the vehicle’s equipment matches the trim you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Tahoe’s styling and upscale presentation are a major part of its appeal, and the Premier trim with the RST Package adds a more aggressive look along with 22-inch wheels and black exterior accents. Base-trim shoppers should expect a more straightforward setup, while higher trims bring more visual polish and equipment.
• Powertrain: The Tahoe offers a 5.3-liter V8 with a 6-speed automatic, while the available 6.2-liter V8 pairs with a 10-speed automatic and delivers stronger performance. The bigger engine also brings a more satisfying exhaust note, but it comes with premium-fuel recommendations and a bigger hit to operating costs.
• Safety package: Chevrolet includes blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, low-speed automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist. Adaptive cruise control with high-speed automatic emergency braking is reserved for Premier trim, and it is not available with the larger 6.2-liter V8.
• Infotainment: The Tahoe uses the MyLink system with an 8-inch driver information center, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, OnStar subscription services, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. It also has physical knobs and buttons for core functions, plus available rear-seat entertainment and a head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: The 6.2-liter V8 averaged 17 mpg on the test loop, and Chevrolet recommends premium fuel for that engine.

Which 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe trim should I buy?

The 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe is offered in 3 trim levels: LS, LT, Premier.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the Tahoe’s size, V8 character, and core family features without paying for extras you may not use. It’s the trim to consider if you’re focused on getting into the model at the lowest cost.
• LT: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds more comfort and convenience equipment while staying below the top trim’s pricing. If you want a Tahoe that feels well equipped without chasing the most expensive version, this is the one to target.
• Premier: This is the trim to buy if you want the most upscale Tahoe experience and the strongest feature content. It also unlocks the available adaptive cruise control with high-speed automatic emergency braking, though that feature cannot be paired with the larger 6.2-liter V8.

Chevrolet reserves adaptive cruise control with high-speed automatic emergency braking for Premier trim, and it cannot be paired with the bigger 6.2-liter V8.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,710 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.18% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,006, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe's resale value?

The current average of $22,006 sits slightly below last year's $25,345.

That decline suggests the Tahoe has become more affordable for used buyers, but it also means a future seller may face a softer pricing environment than owners saw a year ago. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to the prior-year average. Condition will matter a lot at resale, especially because shoppers in this segment pay close attention to history and equipment.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.27/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe safe?

The Tahoe gets a mediocre three-star rating for rollover resistance from NHTSA, while earning five-star ratings in all other NHTSA crash tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevrolet includes blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, low-speed automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist as standard equipment. Adaptive cruise control with high-speed automatic emergency braking is reserved for Premier trim, and the larger 6.2-liter V8 cannot be paired with it.

The main caveat is the rollover result, which is the one area that stands out as weaker than the rest of the Tahoe’s crash-test performance.

Should I buy a 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.18% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.27/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The expert take says this is a Tahoe you buy for styling and V8 character, not pure practicality.

The bottom line: If you want the Tahoe’s look, V8 feel, and family-hauling presence, the 2018 is a reasonable year to target because prices have eased and inventory is healthy. If your priority is maximum practicality or the lowest possible ownership cost, you may want to compare it with other years or with a different large SUV before you commit.
