Is the 2018 Lincoln Navigator reliable?

Owners rate it 4.86/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a vehicle that feels comfortable, luxurious, and spacious, with owners especially appreciating its ability to haul and tow with confidence. That kind of praise suggests you can count on it to deliver the core full-size luxury SUV experience over time.

The expert review also emphasizes that the Navigator’s powertrain and chassis are built to handle a large, heavy SUV without making you wish for a V8, which supports the impression of dependable everyday capability. Black Label ownership also includes maintenance perks such as pickup service, an upgraded maintenance program, and free car washes.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the Navigator’s mission and more about finding one that has been maintained well, since premium features and complex equipment can be costly if prior care was inconsistent.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Lincoln Navigator?

At 70.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of the body, electronics, and luxury features. Because this SUV is loaded with convenience and tech equipment, condition matters as much as mileage, especially if you want the cabin and systems to feel as premium as they should.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Even the base Premiere trim is lavish, with 20-inch wheels, LED lighting all around, heated first- and second-row seats, power-folding second- and third-row seating, a 10-inch touchscreen with navigation, a 12-inch reconfigurable instrument cluster, and tri-zone climate control. The Select adds adaptive suspension, 22-inch wheels, a heated steering wheel, wireless charging, power side running boards, and a 360-degree camera, while the Reserve adds a panoramic dual-pane sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, and unique 22-inch wheel design. Black Label adds special themes and premium ownership perks.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 with 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive is standard, with 4WD available on lower trims and standard on Reserve and Black Label. Fuel economy is 16 mpg city, 23 highway, 19 combined with RWD and 16/21/18 with 4WD.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes front- and side-impact airbags, LATCH, tire pressure monitoring, a reversing camera, Side Wind Stabilization, and blind-spot warning. Black Label adds lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning and mitigation with pedestrian detection, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go.
• Infotainment: The Navigator uses a 10-inch touchscreen with Sync 3, plus Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa through AppLink. It also includes real volume and tuning knobs, and higher trims can add rear-seat entertainment and a premium Revel audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: RWD models return 16 mpg city, 23 highway, 19 combined, while 4WD versions return 16/21/18.

Which 2018 Lincoln Navigator trim should I buy?

The 2018 Lincoln Navigator is offered in 4 trim levels: Premiere, Select, Reserve, and Black Label.

Here's the short version:

• Premiere: This is the value play if you want the Navigator’s core luxury experience without stretching too far. You still get a very rich standard feature set, including heated first- and second-row seats, power-folding seating, a 10-inch touchscreen, navigation, and a 12-inch digital cluster.
• Select: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds meaningful upgrades like adaptive suspension, 22-inch wheels, a heated steering wheel, wireless charging, power side running boards, and a 360-degree camera.
• Reserve: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel, thanks to the panoramic dual-pane sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, and standard 4WD. It’s the trim that starts to feel especially plush.
• Black Label: This is the top-tier choice if you want the most exclusive ownership experience, with special themes, premium services, and the most advanced safety content in the lineup.

Black Label is also the trim that brings lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning and mitigation with pedestrian detection, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Lincoln Navigator?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile opportunities.

• Deal availability: 37.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 640 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.58% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 70.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,327, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Lincoln Navigator's resale value?

The current average of $26,327 sits slightly below last year's $29,775.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can be good news if you’re buying now but less favorable if you’re planning to sell soon. If you own one, pricing it competitively will matter, especially because shoppers in this segment have plenty of alternatives and tend to compare condition and equipment closely.

Well-kept examples with desirable trims and strong feature content should hold up better than average, especially if they present cleanly and have a solid history. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Lincoln Navigator safe?

The 2018 Lincoln Navigator earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes front- and side-impact airbags, LATCH, a reversing camera, tire pressure monitoring, Side Wind Stabilization, and blind-spot warning. Black Label adds lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning and mitigation with pedestrian detection, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go.

A key caveat is that some of the more advanced driver-assistance features are reserved for Black Label, so lower trims miss out on the most complete safety package. For a large SUV, that makes trim choice especially important if safety tech is a priority for you.

Should I buy a 2018 Lincoln Navigator or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 37.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 70.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.58% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 stands out for its redesigned styling, strong towing ability, and a cabin that feels like a major step forward for Lincoln.

The bottom line: If you want the most distinctive styling and a strong mix of luxury, space, and towing ability, the 2018 is the year to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully and focus on condition, but the 2018’s combination of lower prices and strong owner satisfaction makes it the primary year to consider.
