Used 2018 Lexus RX for Sale near Alabama

How much does the 2018 Lexus RX cost?

Prices have softened 3.37% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,419 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2018 Lexus RX a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Lexus RX earns a 4.64/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its smooth and comfortable ride, spacious interior, and luxurious features. The review summary also points to reliability and low maintenance costs, while the overview shows you’re looking at a family-focused luxury crossover with extra seating. Even so, the market still shows 37.5% good or great deals, so you have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2018 Lexus RX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.64/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary highlights that many drivers find it reliable with low maintenance costs, and it also points to a smooth, comfortable ownership experience. The expert performance notes describe the engine as smooth, responsive, and eager, with the transmission handling its responsibilities without issues. The cost-effectiveness commentary also notes that the RX 350L is hard to recommend versus dedicated three-row crossovers, which matters if you plan to keep it long term and want the most practical ownership experience.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the third-row packaging and overall value proposition may not match your family needs as well as a purpose-built three-row SUV.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Lexus RX?

At 60.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, alignment, and signs of prior repair. Because this model year is being shopped as a luxury family crossover, condition matters a lot: make sure the cabin, electronics, and seating surfaces match the seller’s description. If you’re considering a higher-priced example, compare equipment carefully so you know whether the added features justify the premium.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Base trim includes auto LED headlights and high beams, LED fogs and running lights, leather upholstery, keyless ignition and entry, tri-zone climate control, an 8-way power driver seat, an 8-inch display, and a safety suite with adaptive cruise, lane-departure warning and intervention, and forward-collision warning and intervention with auto braking. It also lacks Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, so base-trim shoppers should pay close attention to infotainment expectations.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.5-liter V6 with 290 hp and 263 lb-ft of torque through an 8-speed automatic. The setup is smooth and responsive, though the added weight of the long-wheelbase version makes it slightly slower and less efficient than the standard RX. A hybrid version is also mentioned, with two electric motors and 308 hp, plus stronger fuel economy.
• Safety package: The standard Lexus Safety System+ includes adaptive cruise, lane-departure warning and intervention, and forward-collision warning and intervention with auto braking. Blind-spot monitoring is not standard, so you may want to confirm whether a specific listing has it.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses an 8-inch display and the Remote Touch interface. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are not available, and built-in navigation can add significant cost.
• Fuel efficiency: The RX 350L is rated at 19 mpg city, 26 highway, and 22 combined. The hybrid version is rated at 31 city, 28 highway, and 30 combined mpg.

Which 2018 Lexus RX trim should I buy?

The 2018 Lexus RX is offered in 2 trim levels: RX 350L and RX 450hL.

Here's the short version:

• RX 350L: This is the core gas model and the one most shoppers will cross-shop first. It gives you the standard V6, the main luxury features, and the full three-row layout, but the third row is tight and access is awkward. It’s the better fit if you want the lowest entry price and don’t need the hybrid powertrain.
• RX 450hL: This is the hybrid choice, and it adds the electric-motor setup plus stronger fuel economy. It also comes with second-row captain’s chairs as standard, so it suits you best if efficiency matters more than maximum seating flexibility.

The standard Lexus Safety System+ is a strong plus across the lineup, but blind-spot monitoring is not standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Lexus RX?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,419 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.37% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,624, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Lexus RX's resale value?

The current average of $26,564 sits slightly below last year's $27,491.

That decline suggests the market has softened, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit upside if you plan to sell soon. If you’re a future seller, the current pricing trend means you should focus on buying well and preserving condition so you can protect as much value as possible. Strong maintenance records and clean history will matter more when the market is already drifting lower.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.64/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Lexus RX safe?

The 2018 Lexus RX earns a Top Safety Pick+ title from the IIHS and four-star ratings overall from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in all tests other than side crash categories where it scored five stars across the board.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard Lexus Safety System+ includes adaptive cruise, lane-departure warning and intervention, and forward-collision warning and intervention with auto braking. Blind-spot monitoring is not standard, so you should verify whether a specific listing includes it. The main caveat is that the safety suite is strong, but not every desirable driver-assistance feature comes standard.

Should I buy a 2018 Lexus RX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.37% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.64/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 adds three-row seating to the RX lineup, but the third row is tight and best treated as occasional-use space.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $23,790, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $26,564 average.
• It adds broader F Sport availability and standard Safety System + Package inclusion.

The bottom line: If you want the newer three-row RX and can live with its tight third row, the 2018 is the better fit. If your priority is lower purchase price and you don’t need the extra seating, the 2017 is the smarter value play.
