Is the 2018 Jeep Cherokee a good car?

Yes — the 4.8/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its features, spaciousness, smooth ride, good value, and available 4X4 capability, which fits well if you want a compact SUV that balances everyday usability with Jeep character. The model’s practical cabin and available off-road hardware make it appealing if you want something versatile rather than purely commuter-focused. With 33.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you also have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2018 Jeep Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that many people find dependable in daily use, with praise centered on features, ride quality, and overall value. That kind of satisfaction usually matters most when you want a used SUV you can count on for regular driving and occasional adventure. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific vehicle you choose has been maintained well and has a clean history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Jeep Cherokee?

At 67.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and ownership history before you get too far into the process. Then prioritize a thorough inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one priced near the low end of the market. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the vehicle feels consistent on a test drive.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Jeep Cherokee?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,366 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.28% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 67.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,659, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Jeep Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $12,659 sits slightly below last year's $14,269.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. If you’re thinking like a future seller, the key is to buy a well-kept example at a fair price so you have less depreciation left to absorb. Strong condition and a clean history matter more when the market has already softened.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Jeep Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.28% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2018 is a good choice if you want a well-liked Cherokee with strong owner satisfaction, a softer price than last year, and enough inventory to shop carefully. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can use the current market to target the best-value listings and focus on condition and history first. If you want the newest-feeling option, a later year may be worth considering, but the 2018 remains a sensible buy when the right example is priced well.
