How much does the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe cost?

Prices have softened 9.15% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,095 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe a good car?

Yes — 4.5/5. It earns an expert rating of 8/10, and the standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

The 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe is framed as a bargain-minded family-size crossover that emphasizes safety, roominess, and dependability. It is especially appealing if you want a practical, safe, and spacious SUV without paying more than you need to.

The market also shows 36.1% good or great deals, which supports the case for value-focused shoppers.

Is the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe is described as a practical, safe, and dependable family SUV, and its value proposition is reinforced by Hyundai’s warranty and roadside-assistance programs. The expert notes also point to a quiet cabin, thoughtful equipment, and a vehicle that delivers the safety and utility families seek.

Hyundai’s cost-effectiveness notes also highlight subsidized lease deals, low interest-rate financing, rebates, and three free years of Blue Link services, which can reduce ownership friction. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that age-related wear may show up in a vehicle that already has a lot of family-duty miles.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe?

At 68.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the equipment and safety systems operate as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SE is well equipped, but the SE Ultimate adds bigger wheels and tires, navigation, a panoramic glass sunroof, premium sound, heated and ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats. The Limited Ultimate adds HID headlights that aim around corners, LED taillights, second-row captain’s chairs, and silver trim, but the SE Ultimate is the best-value trim.
• Powertrain: All trims use a 3.3-liter V6 with a 6-speed automatic transmission, and the Santa Fe is described as supplying plenty of power in a refined manner.
• Safety package: Hyundai offers driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems, and Blue Link adds automatic collision notification, SOS emergency calling, and safe teen driving settings for speed, curfew, and geographic boundaries.
• Infotainment: The Santa Fe uses an 8-inch display screen, includes a CD player, and has three free years of Blue Link subscription services.
• Fuel efficiency: During testing, it returned an even 20 mpg on the test loop, matching the EPA’s combined estimate.

Which 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe trim should I buy?

The 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe is offered in 3 trim levels: SE, SE Ultimate, and Limited Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, but it is still well equipped and includes stain- and odor-resistant cloth seats and a Clean Air cabin air filtration system. If you want the lowest-cost way into the Santa Fe, this is the trim to start with.
• SE Ultimate: This is the best-value trim because it adds a long list of comfort and convenience upgrades, including navigation, a panoramic glass sunroof, premium sound, heated and ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats.
• Limited Ultimate: This trim adds HID headlights that aim around curves and corners, LED taillights, second-row captain’s chairs, and silver exterior trim. It makes sense if those extras matter to you, but the price premium is hard to justify for most shoppers.

The Santa Fe’s safety technology is effective overall, though the expert notes that adaptive cruise control could be refined and the lane-departure warning would be better as a tactile alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and pricing softness to reward careful shopping.

• Deal availability: 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,095 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.15% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 68.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,221, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe's resale value?

The current average of $14,264 sits slightly below last year's $15,701.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at a strong price and keep the vehicle in good condition, you can reduce the impact of further depreciation. The Santa Fe’s value-oriented reputation also helps it stay relevant with shoppers who want a practical family SUV.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe safe?

The 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe is the only midsize, 7-passenger SUV to get a Top Safety Pick Plus award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Hyundai’s safety suite includes automatic collision notification, SOS emergency calling, safe teen driving settings for speed, curfew, and geographic boundaries, plus driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems. The expert notes say the collection is effective overall, though adaptive cruise control could be smoother and the lane-departure warning would be better as a tactile alert.

Should I buy a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 68.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.15% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 stands out as one of the safest SUVs you can buy and a raging bargain in its segment.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $14,787, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $14,264 average.
• It moves to a fourth-generation design that sits between compact and midsize SUVs.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest value and a proven safety-focused family SUV, the 2018 is the better buy. If you prefer the newer-generation packaging and can spend more, the 2019 is worth a look; price-sensitive shoppers should stay focused on the 2018.
