How much does the 2018 Ford Mustang cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 1,896 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2018 Ford Mustang a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Ford Mustang earns a 4.6/5 user rating and an 8.3/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its power, sporty design, and enjoyable driving experience, and they also call out fast acceleration and a smooth ride. The convertible version is especially appealing if you want a fun car for leisure driving. In use-case terms, this is a strong fit if you want a stylish performance car that still feels approachable for everyday driving. Good and great deals account for 28.6% of listings, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2018 Ford Mustang reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a car people enjoy living with, especially because of its power, sporty design, and enjoyable driving experience. The same feedback also highlights fast acceleration and a smooth ride, which usually helps reinforce confidence in day-to-day ownership. The expert review also describes the Mustang as a more sophisticated take on the classic pony car formula, with performance that feels well sorted for the segment. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained well and matches its advertised condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Ford Mustang?

At 60.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage or repeated repairs. After that, prioritize a thorough inspection of the body, interior, and mechanical condition, especially if the car has been modified or driven hard. It also helps to focus on whether the car’s equipment matches the listing, since condition and specification accuracy matter a lot in this market.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GT Premium coupe shown in the review adds a more upscale cabin with higher-quality materials, exposed contrast stitching, and aluminum carbon-pattern trim, while the Premium trim is the path to leather seats. Base cars are more stripped down, so you should pay close attention to feature gaps if you want a more refined interior.
• Powertrain: The review highlights the 5.0-liter V8 in GT models, and it notes that Ford improved output for both Mustang engines this year. The V8 is paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic, and the automatic adds adaptive shift logic, paddle shifters, and multiple drive modes.
• Safety package: The Mustang includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, driver monitoring, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts. The IIHS small-overlap frontal result is only Acceptable, so that’s a trim-agnostic safety caveat worth keeping in mind.
• Infotainment: The car gets a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, Sync 3, Ford Sync Connect, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. The digital display changes with drive mode, and Track Apps adds performance data through the infotainment system.
• Fuel efficiency: The GT is rated at 19 mpg in combined driving, and the review notes that the EcoBoost Coupe with a Performance Package can be had for $28,980. The performance-focused setup is the one most directly tied to the fuel-economy discussion in the source material.

Which 2018 Ford Mustang trim should I buy?

The 2018 Ford Mustang is offered in 2 trim levels: EcoBoost and GT.

Here's the short version:

• EcoBoost: This is the best-value choice if you want Mustang style and fun without paying for V8 power. The source says the real value is found in the Mustang EcoBoost, and it can be paired with a Performance Package for a more engaging setup while staying far below GT pricing.
• GT: Choose this if you want the V8 experience, stronger performance, and the more serious hardware that comes with it. The GT Premium test car shows how much the car can gain from upgrades like the Performance Package, MagneRide suspension, and the 10-speed automatic.

The safety content notes that the Mustang’s driver-assistance features are configurable and performance-calibrated, but the lane-keeping assist system can detract from driving enjoyment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Ford Mustang?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,896 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,233, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Ford Mustang's resale value?

The current average of $22,347 sits slightly above last year's $22,213.

That small increase suggests the Mustang has held its value fairly well rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For a future seller, that kind of stability is helpful because it points to a market that remains familiar and easy for buyers to understand. Strong demand for the car’s performance image and everyday usability should continue to support interest when you decide to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Ford Mustang safe?

The 2018 Mustang earns an Acceptable rating from IIHS for small-overlap frontal-impact protection and Good ratings in other crash-test assessments, while the federal government gives it a five-star rating for rollover resistance.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Mustang’s driver-assistance suite includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, driver monitoring, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts. Most of these systems can be adjusted for sensitivity, and they’re tuned to avoid false warnings during spirited driving. The main caveat is the IIHS small-overlap result, which is weaker than the rest of the safety picture.

Should I buy a 2018 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The expert review says the 2018 update makes the Mustang more sophisticated than before, with meaningful mechanical and technology improvements.

The bottom line: If you want the more polished version of this generation, the 2018 is the one to target because it blends stronger tech, improved performance hardware, and steady pricing. If you’re shopping mainly on price, you can still find value here, but you should be selective and prioritize condition, history, and equipment match over simply chasing the lowest sticker.
