Is the 2018 Dodge Charger a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Dodge Charger earns a 4.67/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its sporty features, smooth ride, powerful performance, stylish design, tech features, and spacious interior. That lines up with the Charger’s use case as a four-door muscle sedan that still works as an everyday family car. The market also shows 24.8% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2018 Dodge Charger reliable?

Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The expert review also describes the Charger as a car that can be counted on for everyday usability, with a broad range of trims and a proven rear-wheel-drive layout. It also benefits from a standard reversing camera and rear parking sensors, which add everyday confidence.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that condition and maintenance history matter a lot, especially on higher-output versions.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Dodge Charger?

At 48% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage or modified example. Pay close attention to body condition, interior wear, and signs of uneven maintenance, since owner feedback mentions condition concerns. If you want the best odds of a clean purchase, focus on cars with complete service records and consistent panel, tire, and brake wear.

Which 2018 Dodge Charger trim should I buy?

The 2018 Dodge Charger is offered in 9 trim levels: SXT, SXT Plus, GT, GT Plus, R/T, R/T Scat Pack, Daytona, Daytona 392, SRT 392, and Hellcat.

Here's the short version:

• SXT: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Charger’s core personality at the lowest price. You get the standard Uconnect setup, the basic comfort and convenience features, and the cleanest path into the lineup if you mainly want the styling and space.
• SXT Plus: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the comfort and convenience upgrades that make daily driving easier, including heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and a better audio setup.
• GT: If you want all-wheel drive, this is the trim to target. It adds AWD, larger wheels, and a sportier steering wheel, making it the right choice if you want extra traction without jumping to V8 power.
• GT Plus: This is the comfort-focused AWD choice. It builds on the GT with heated and cooled seats plus a heated steering wheel, so it suits you if you want year-round usability and a more upscale feel.
• R/T: This is the first V8 trim and the one to buy if engine character matters most. It adds the 5.7-liter V8, sport suspension, and active exhaust, giving you the classic Charger muscle-sedan experience.
• R/T Scat Pack: This is the performance sweet spot if you want serious speed without going all the way to the top. The 6.4-liter V8 and Brembo brakes make it the most compelling choice for enthusiasts who want a big jump in capability.
• Daytona: This trim is for you if you want R/T power with extra performance hardware and a more distinctive look. The added suspension tuning and cold air intake make it more focused than the standard R/T.
• Daytona 392: This is the Daytona with the stronger 6.4-liter V8, so it makes sense if you want the Daytona’s character with more muscle.
• SRT 392: This is the more serious performance choice, with high-performance damping, Brembo hardware, and unique SRT touches. It suits buyers who want a sharper, more track-minded Charger.
• Hellcat: This is the extreme choice, and it only makes sense if you want the most powerful Charger available. It is the one to buy if outright performance is your priority above all else.

The safety package is strong across the lineup, but the optional Technology Group is worth seeking out if you want the full set of driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Dodge Charger?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop, compare, and negotiate.

• Deal availability: 24.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,532 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.71% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 48.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,524, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Dodge Charger's resale value?

The current average of $18,841 sits slightly below last year's $19,982.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently now. For a future seller, it means resale value may be steadier if you buy well and keep the car in strong condition. The Charger’s broad appeal, especially among shoppers who want performance and style in a practical sedan, should help support demand. Well-kept examples with desirable trims and clean histories are likely to hold attention better than rough or heavily modified ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Dodge Charger safe?

The 2018 Dodge Charger earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Dodge makes a reversing camera and rear parking sensors standard across the lineup, along with front- and side-impact airbags, active head restraints, the LATCH child-seat anchoring system, and a tire pressure monitoring system. Blind-spot warning with rear cross-path detection is available, and the optional Technology Group adds adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and automatic high beams. That said, some rivals make more of these features standard, so you may want to prioritize a well-equipped trim or option package.

Should I buy a 2018 Dodge Charger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 24.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 48% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.71% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines rear-wheel-drive muscle-sedan character with modern infotainment and available all-wheel drive.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $18,336, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $18,841 average.
• It delivers bold, attention-grabbing muscle-car personality.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price, features, and broad trim choice, the 2018 is the stronger all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front and you can live with fewer features, the 2017 is the better value play.
