Is the 2018 Dodge Challenger reliable?

The owner feedback points to a car that many drivers feel good about living with over time, especially because it is described as strong on performance, comfort, and daily usability. The recurring reliability-adjacent themes are confidence in the car’s character, satisfaction with its powertrain choices, and appreciation for its roomy cabin. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the car’s appeal and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not worn hard.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Dodge Challenger?

At 57% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, since accident history can affect both condition and future resale value. Put inspection priority on bodywork, panel alignment, tires, brakes, and signs of hard use, especially if the car has performance upgrades or a more aggressive trim. Focus on overall condition and maintenance records so you can separate a clean, well-kept example from one that has been driven hard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Dodge Challenger?

This looks like a moderate market where selective buyers can still find value if they shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

If you find a listing below $22,577, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Dodge Challenger's resale value?

The current average of $22,777 sits slightly below last year's $23,745.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can make the car easier to buy now but may also limit short-term upside for a future seller. If you plan to resell later, condition and documentation will matter more because a softer market tends to reward clean, well-kept examples. A strong ownership history can help your car stand out when buyers compare similar listings.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Dodge Challenger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 57% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.08% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $20,641, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $22,777 average.
• It leans hardest into retro style and old-school personality.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger overall balance of current pricing, owner satisfaction, and market availability, the 2018 is the better starting point. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2017 is the more budget-friendly path and may be worth a closer look.
