What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Chevrolet Impala?

At 50.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can check for signs of uneven wear, poor repairs, or lingering mechanical issues.

Focus especially on overall condition, because the best buy is likely to be the cleanest example rather than simply the cheapest one. If a listing looks unusually attractive on price, make sure the paperwork and inspection back it up.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more buyer-friendly, which can make resale a little less aggressive in the near term. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you may be better positioned to protect value when it’s time to sell. The Impala’s broad appeal as a roomy, comfortable sedan should still help it attract shoppers who want a lot of car for the money.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Chevrolet Impala or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 50.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.80% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2018 is a strong choice if you want a roomy, comfortable full-size sedan and you can verify condition carefully. If you’re price-sensitive, nearby model years may also be worth a look, but the 2018 stands out as a sensible target when you find a clean example at the right price.
