You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. • Deal availability: 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

The current average of $12,592 sits slightly below last year's $13,203.

That softer pricing can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle, but it also means future resale gains may be limited if the market stays soft. If you plan to sell later, a clean history and strong condition will matter more because buyers tend to reward well-kept examples. The Impala’s broad appeal as a roomy, comfortable sedan should help support demand, especially for cars that present well and have been maintained carefully.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Chevrolet Impala or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 53.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.62% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2018 Impala makes the most sense if you want a roomy, comfortable full-size sedan and you can find a clean, well-priced example. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby model years to see whether a lower asking price outweighs any differences in condition or availability.
