Is the 2018 BMW 7 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Reviewers describe it as powerful, luxurious, smooth, and enjoyable to live with, while also pointing to concerns about potential engine issues and repair costs. That means long-term ownership can be rewarding, but you should be especially careful about maintenance history and warranty coverage when shopping used.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 BMW 7 Series?

At 60.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection should be a priority, especially on a luxury sedan where repair costs can be high. Focus closely on overall condition, maintenance records, and any signs of expensive wear so you can avoid a car that looks good on paper but may be costly to own.

What is the 2018 BMW 7 Series's resale value?

The current average of $22,274 sits slightly below last year's $25,057.

That price movement suggests the model has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stabilizes. If you buy at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you may be better positioned to limit further value loss. Strong owner satisfaction can also help support demand when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 BMW 7 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.11% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should focus on the 2018 if you want a strong mix of value, owner satisfaction, and current market softness. If you are especially price-sensitive, compare it with nearby years to see whether a lower asking price outweighs the 2018’s balance of demand and satisfaction.
