How much does the 2017 Volkswagen Beetle cost?

Prices are up 4.69% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 290 listings available, which gives you a meaningful pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2017 Volkswagen Beetle a good car?

Yes — 5/5 is a strong user rating for the 2017 Volkswagen Beetle, and it fits shoppers who want a stylish, affordable car with a more modern, better-equipped feel. The Beetle’s roomier interior, larger trunk, and premium ambience make it more usable than earlier versions, while its distinctive shape still gives it the personality many buyers want. It is also described as good to drive and well-equipped, though it is not especially practical and visibility is not great. 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Volkswagen Beetle reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2017 Beetle is presented as a sensible, well-equipped car with sensible running costs, which supports confidence for everyday use. Its appeal is strongest if you want style and affordability without giving up basic usability. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained well and still feels solid in daily driving.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Volkswagen Beetle?

At 52.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially on body condition, panel fit, and signs of past repair work. Because the Beetle is valued for its style and premium feel, you should focus on overall condition as much as mileage and price.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Volkswagen Beetle?

This looks like a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep buyer’s market.

• Deal availability: 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 290 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 4.69% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 52.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,199, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Volkswagen Beetle's resale value?

The current average of $18,738 sits slightly above last year's $17,898.

That year-over-year increase suggests the Beetle has held buyer interest well enough to support pricing. If you buy carefully and keep the car in strong condition, you may be able to preserve more of its value than you would with a less distinctive compact car. The limited supply of clean examples can also help a well-kept Beetle stand out when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Volkswagen Beetle or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 52.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 4.69% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $19,472, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $18,738 average.
• It adds a final-year 2.0-liter turbo engine with a more efficient sendoff.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2017 is the primary path because it sits below the next year's average while still offering strong satisfaction and decent deal availability. If you are willing to pay more for the final-year update and a newer model, the 2018 is the secondary path for buyers who want the last Beetle chapter.
