How much does the 2014 Volkswagen Beetle cost?

Prices are up 6.65% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 495 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2014 Volkswagen Beetle a good car?

Generally — the 2014 Volkswagen Beetle earns a 4.4/5 user rating, which points to solid owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise the fun driving experience and unique style, and they also call out how easy it is to park and how spacious the interior feels. That makes it a strong fit if you want a distinctive compact car with personality rather than a purely practical commuter. With 30.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Volkswagen Beetle reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Reviewers describe the car as fun to drive and easy to live with, and some comments point to a spacious interior that helps everyday usability. At the same time, the model’s reputation is mixed enough that you should pay close attention to maintenance history and mechanical condition before committing.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is ending up with a car that has been poorly maintained or already showing wear in key mechanical areas.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Volkswagen Beetle?

At 49.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on overall condition, signs of past bodywork, and any mechanical issues that could affect long-term ownership. Because reliability has been a concern for this model, it makes sense to prioritize cars with clear records and strong maintenance documentation.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Volkswagen Beetle?

This looks like a moderate market, so you can buy now if the right car shows up, but it still pays to be selective.

• Deal availability: 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 495 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 6.65% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 49.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,621, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Volkswagen Beetle's resale value?

The current average of $12,981 sits slightly above last year's $12,172.

That upward move suggests the market has held up reasonably well for this model year, which can help support resale confidence if you buy at the right price. If you keep the car in strong condition and maintain it well, you should be in a better position when it comes time to sell. Demand is also helped by the Beetle’s distinctive styling and broad appeal to shoppers looking for something different.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2014 Volkswagen Beetle or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 49.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 6.65% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $13,429, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $12,981 average.
• It adds a more powerful TDI diesel with improved fuel economy.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2014 is the stronger starting point because it combines lower average pricing with solid owner satisfaction. If you are willing to spend more for the next model year’s added diesel appeal and efficiency, the 2015 is the better secondary path.
