How much does the 2017 Toyota Corolla cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 1,970 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 Toyota Corolla a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Toyota Corolla earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 6.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its fuel efficiency, comfort, reliability, and ride quality. In practical terms, that makes it a sensible choice if you want an easy daily driver with a reputation for dependable commuting and broad appeal. The market also shows 33.9% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Toyota Corolla reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to reliability, and owners also describe the car as dependable and a good fit for trouble-free daily use. The expert evaluation also emphasizes the Corolla’s reputation for everyday usability and its focus on practical ownership. Toyota’s standard maintenance coverage adds a small ownership perk, and that can help early running costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the Corolla’s basic mission and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not worn hard.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Toyota Corolla?

At 42.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or shows uneven wear. Focus on condition details that matter in a commuter car: braking feel, tire wear, interior condition, and evidence of consistent maintenance. If a listing looks unusually cheap, make sure the savings are not hiding repair history or deferred upkeep.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base L trim is well equipped with adaptive cruise, a 6.1-inch touchscreen with Entune, air conditioning, a reversing camera, and Toyota Safety Sense P. The LE adds 16-inch wheels, keyless entry, auto climate control, heated mirrors, and variable intermittent wipers. The XLE adds alloy wheels, keyless ignition and entry, pleather, heated seats, a sunroof, and a larger 7-inch display with HD and satellite radio plus navigation.
• Powertrain: The Corolla uses a 1.8-liter engine with a CVT. The performance notes describe it as underpowered and noisy, with sluggish acceleration and limited passing punch.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense P is standard and includes auto high beams, lane-departure warning with intervention, and forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection and auto braking. A reversing camera is also standard. The safety content notes that trims below the SE come with rear drum brakes.
• Infotainment: Base models get a 6.1-inch touchscreen with Entune. The XLE upgrades to a 7-inch display with Entune Audio Plus, HD radio, satellite radio, and navigation. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not included.
• Fuel efficiency: The Corolla is rated at 28 mpg city and 36 mpg highway.

Which 2017 Toyota Corolla trim should I buy?

The 2017 Toyota Corolla is offered in 7 trim levels: L, LE, LE Eco, XLE, SE, XSE, and 50th-Anniversary Edition.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the value-focused starting point, and it already includes a reversing camera, Toyota Safety Sense P, adaptive cruise, a 6.1-inch touchscreen with Entune, and air conditioning. It makes sense if you want the lowest entry price and can live without comfort upgrades.
• LE: The LE adds the most useful everyday upgrades, including 16-inch wheels, keyless entry, auto climate control, heated mirrors, and variable intermittent wipers. It is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds convenience without pushing too far up the price ladder.
• LE Eco: The LE Eco is tuned for maximum efficiency with 15-inch wheels, low-rolling-resistance tires, and efficiency-focused tuning. Choose it if fuel economy matters more to you than extra features.
• XLE: The XLE is the comfort-oriented choice, with alloy wheels, keyless ignition and entry, pleather, heated seats, a sunroof, and the larger 7-inch display with navigation. It suits you if you want the most complete mainstream Corolla experience.
• SE: The SE adds a sport-themed look, 17-inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, a sport seat and gauge cluster, a chrome exhaust tip, and an optional 6-speed manual transmission. It is the pick if you want the most distinctive styling and the manual gearbox option.
• XSE: The XSE builds on the SE with a sunroof, keyless entry and ignition, heated seats, and a power driver’s seat. It is the most upscale sport-leaning trim.
• 50th-Anniversary Edition: This special edition builds off the SE with unique 17-inch wheels, upgraded cloth and leather upholstery with black cherry contrast stitching, and anniversary badging and trim inside and out. It is the choice if you want the commemorative appearance package.

Toyota Safety Sense P is standard, and that broad safety content is a major reason the Corolla stands out at the base end of the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Toyota Corolla?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,970 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 42.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,131, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Toyota Corolla's resale value?

The current average of $13,912 sits slightly above last year's $13,789.

That kind of stability suggests the Corolla is holding its value rather than swinging sharply with market shifts. For a future seller, that usually means you are less likely to face a steep drop if you buy at a reasonable price and keep the car in good condition. Strong demand for practical compact sedans also helps support resale, especially when the car has a clean history and solid maintenance records.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Toyota Corolla safe?

The 2017 Toyota Corolla earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Marginal result in the IIHS small-overlap front-impact test.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense P is standard and includes auto high beams, lane-departure warning with intervention, and forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection and auto braking. A reversing camera is also standard, which strengthens the Corolla’s everyday safety equipment. The main caveat is the IIHS small-overlap result, and the braking performance noted in the expert evaluation is another area to keep in mind when you test-drive a used example.

Should I buy a 2017 Toyota Corolla or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 42.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Toyota made Safety Sense P standard, adding auto high beams, lane-departure warning with intervention, and forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection and auto braking.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $12,712, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $13,912 average.
• It emphasizes impressive fuel economy and cost-effectiveness while wrapping the essentials in an eye-catching package.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of standard safety equipment, broad appeal, and stable pricing, the 2017 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front and you can accept fewer features, the 2016 is the more budget-friendly path.
