How much does the 2017 Toyota Corolla cost?

Prices are up 2.33% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,945 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 Toyota Corolla a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Toyota Corolla earns a 4.5/5 user rating, and the expert rating is 6.17/10. The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its fuel efficiency, comfort, reliability, and ride quality. In practical terms, that lines up with the Corolla’s role as a sensible compact car with added safety equipment and a more polished cabin for this year. It is especially appealing if you want a straightforward daily driver rather than something flashy.

31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2017 Toyota Corolla reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback highlights reliability, and owners also describe the car as dependable and comfortable for everyday use. The expert evaluation also points to the Corolla’s practical, long-term ownership appeal, even while noting that some rivals offer more refinement and fewer compromises.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a low purchase price can be offset by the need to live with its weaker driving refinement and safety-related tradeoffs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Toyota Corolla?

At 45.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has any accident history or inconsistent service records. Focus on body condition, brake condition, and signs that the car has been used hard or repaired poorly. Because this model year added important standard safety equipment, you should also confirm that all of those systems are functioning as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base L trim gets a 6.1-inch touchscreen, Entune, adaptive cruise, air conditioning, a reversing camera, and Toyota Safety Sense P, while the LE adds 16-inch wheels, keyless entry, auto climate control, heated mirrors, and more interior trim. The XLE adds a larger 7-inch display, navigation, alloy wheels, keyless ignition and entry, pleather, heated seats, and a sunroof, making it the best-value choice for shoppers who want more comfort and convenience.
• Powertrain: The Corolla uses a 1.8-liter engine paired with a CVT, and the performance notes describe it as underpowered and noisy. Efficiency is also a mixed point, with EPA ratings of 28 city and 36 highway mpg, though real-world results may vary.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense P is standard and includes auto high beams, lane-departure warning with intervention, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, and auto braking. A reversing camera is also standard, but the safety notes call out weaker braking performance and rear drum brakes on trims below the SE.
• Infotainment: Standard Entune is included, and the XLE adds a larger 7-inch display with Entune Audio Plus, HD radio, satellite radio, and navigation. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not included.
• Fuel efficiency: The Corolla is rated at 28 city and 36 highway mpg, with a combined rating of 32 mpg.

Which 2017 Toyota Corolla trim should I buy?

The 2017 Toyota Corolla is offered in 7 trim levels: L, LE, LE Eco, XLE, SE, XSE, and 50th-Anniversary Edition.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the simplest way into the Corolla, but it still gets Toyota Safety Sense P, a reversing camera, adaptive cruise, a 6.1-inch touchscreen, and air conditioning. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost entry point and can live without comfort upgrades.
• LE: The LE adds 16-inch wheels, keyless entry, auto climate control, heated mirrors, and extra interior trim. It is the trim most shoppers will likely cross-shop first because it adds useful everyday convenience without pushing the price too far.
• LE Eco: This version keeps the LE’s basic formula but adds 15-inch wheels, low-rolling-resistance tires, and tuning aimed at maximum efficiency. Choose it if fuel savings matter more to you than extra features.
• XLE: The XLE is the best-value trim for many buyers because it adds alloy wheels, keyless ignition and entry, pleather, heated seats, a sunroof, and the larger 7-inch display with navigation. It is the most complete comfort-focused version in the lineup.
• SE: The SE brings the sport-themed look with 17-inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, a sport seat and gauge cluster, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, paddle shifters with the CVT, and an optional 6-speed manual. Pick it if you want the sportiest appearance and driving setup.
• XSE: The XSE builds on the SE with a sunroof, keyless entry and ignition, heated seats, and a power driver’s seat. It is the right choice if you want the SE’s style with more comfort features.
• 50th-Anniversary Edition: This special edition is based on the SE and adds unique 17-inch wheels, upgraded cloth and leather upholstery with black cherry contrast stitching, and anniversary badging and trim inside and out. It is mainly for shoppers who want the commemorative look and feel.

Toyota Safety Sense P is standard, but the safety notes also call out weaker braking performance and rear drum brakes on trims below the SE.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Toyota Corolla?

This is a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you should shop carefully and compare listings before moving quickly.

• Deal availability: 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,945 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.33% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 45.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,140, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Toyota Corolla's resale value?

The current average of $13,987 sits slightly above last year's $13,668.

That upward move suggests the Corolla has held value reasonably well for a compact car in this segment. If you buy one at a fair price and keep it in clean condition, you should have a decent chance of preserving a good share of your purchase price later. The market also appears to support steady demand rather than sharp depreciation.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Toyota Corolla safe?

The Corolla earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, but in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s small-overlap front-impact test it received a Marginal rating.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense P is standard and includes auto high beams, lane-departure warning with intervention, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, and auto braking. A reversing camera is also standard. The safety notes also flag weak braking performance and rear drum brakes on trims below the SE, which are important considerations if safety is a top priority.

Should I buy a 2017 Toyota Corolla or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 45.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.33% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Toyota made Safety Sense P standard, adding auto high beams, lane-departure warning with intervention, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, and auto braking.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $12,859, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $13,987 average.
• It emphasizes fuel economy and cost-effectiveness in a straightforward, value-focused package.

The bottom line: If you want the better-equipped Corolla with standard safety tech and stronger owner satisfaction, the 2017 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2016 is the more budget-friendly route, especially if you can find one in clean condition.
