Used 2017 Subaru Impreza for Sale near Ohio

How much does the 2017 Subaru Impreza cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 847 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2017 Subaru Impreza a good car?

Generally — the 2017 Subaru Impreza earns 4.33/5 from owners and 8/10 from expert testing. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

That lines up with the car’s core appeal: standard all-wheel drive, affordable tech, and a practical sedan-or-hatchback layout that stands out if you want car-like packaging instead of a crossover. The tradeoff is refinement, since the cabin is described as less polished than some rivals.

32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so you still have room to shop carefully.

Is the 2017 Subaru Impreza reliable?

Owners rate it 4.33/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Impreza’s appeal is built around practical durability: standard all-wheel drive, a straightforward daily-driver mission, and a package that’s meant to be easy to live with. Expert testing also points to a car that’s affordable and practical, which usually matters more to used buyers than flashier features.

Its 2-liter boxer engine and CVT are tuned for commuting rather than excitement, and the transmission’s behavior is described as improved for 2017 compared with earlier Subaru CVTs. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a neglected example could be more frustrating than rewarding, so condition and maintenance history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Subaru Impreza?

At 59% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had body damage or shows signs of hard use. Focus on overall condition, because the Impreza’s value proposition depends on it being a practical, affordable daily driver rather than a luxury car with lots of margin for neglect.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: In 2.0i trim, you get a 5-speed stick shift, cloth seats, a 4-speaker sound system, and manual climate control, while Premium adds an automatic transmission and more options. Sport adds minor performance-oriented touches, and Limited can be ordered with leather, a moonroof, and upgraded infotainment.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses Subaru’s 2-liter, 152-hp, 4-cylinder boxer engine, paired with a CVT. The setup is tuned for commuting, not hard acceleration, and it can return as much as 38 mpg highway and 28 city.
• Safety package: EyeSight uses two windshield-mounted cameras and can warn you about lane drift, automatically brake in an emergency, and adjust cruise control to follow traffic. On Premium, it adds blind-spot detection and steering-responsive fog lights.
• Infotainment: Every 2017 Impreza comes standard with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and the touchscreen gives you access to music, podcasts, and navigation. EyeSight is available on the Premium trim for an added cost.
• Fuel efficiency: The CVT helps the Impreza achieve up to 38 mpg highway and 28 city.

Which 2017 Subaru Impreza trim should I buy?

The 2017 Subaru Impreza is offered in 4 trim levels: 2.0i, Premium, Sport, Limited.

Here's the short version:

• 2.0i: This is the entry point, and it gives you the essentials: cloth seats, manual climate control, a 5-speed stick shift, and standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Impreza’s standard all-wheel-drive formula.
• Premium: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds an automatic transmission and opens the door to more options. It also can be equipped with EyeSight, blind-spot detection, and steering-responsive fog lights, which makes it the trim to target if safety tech matters to you.
• Sport: Choose this if you want the Impreza with a little more character, since it adds torque vectoring and can still be had with a stick shift. It’s the trim for buyers who want a slightly more engaging drive without moving into luxury territory.
• Limited: This is the most upscale version, with available leather, a moonroof, and upgraded infotainment. It’s the right pick if you want the most comfort and convenience features in the lineup.

EyeSight is available on the Premium trim and brings blind-spot detection and steering-responsive fog lights with it.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Subaru Impreza?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 847 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 59.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,994, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Subaru Impreza's resale value?

The current average of $12,534 sits slightly below last year's $12,637.

That small decline suggests the market has been fairly stable rather than volatile, which is helpful if you plan to sell later. A steady price pattern usually means buyers still see value in the car’s core strengths, especially when the model has a clear practical identity.

For you as a future seller, that means condition and mileage will likely matter more than trying to time a dramatic price swing. Well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones because the car’s appeal is tied to practicality and affordability.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Subaru Impreza safe?

The 2017 Subaru Impreza is a Top Safety Pick Plus from IIHS and earns a top five-star safety rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

EyeSight is the named driver-assistance suite, and it uses two windshield-mounted cameras to provide lane-departure alerts, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. On Premium, it also includes blind-spot detection and steering-responsive fog lights.

One caveat is that the adaptive cruise behavior has an odd flaw: if the car stays stopped for more than 3 seconds, the system turns off and the car can start to roll forward, so you still need to stay attentive in traffic.

Should I buy a 2017 Subaru Impreza or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It stands out as an all-new, practical sedan-or-hatchback choice with standard all-wheel drive, affordable tech, and strong safety credentials.

The bottom line: If you want a used compact car with standard all-wheel drive, strong safety, and everyday practicality, the 2017 Impreza is the right path to focus on. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can still shop the market carefully and target a well-kept example near the lower end of the range, but the 2017 model’s mix of value and capability makes it the primary year to consider.
