Great value for the money. Practical but has all the safety and phone features we wanted. I also looked at Mazda 3 and the Corolla; this is better looking. Bigger on the inside than I expected. The 2.0 liter is not very fast, but adequate with good gas mileage.

2017 Honda Civic Price Trends
CarGurus tracks the prices of millions of used car listings every year. See how the average price of 2017 Honda Civic prices has changed over time.
See more price trendsHow much does the 2017 Honda Civic cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $15,491 |
| Year-Round Low | $14,858.30 |
| Year-Round High | $15,928.83 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $15,801 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −1.96% |
Prices have softened 1.96% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 2,724 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and conditions. If you find a listing below $14,858.30, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2017 Honda Civic a good car?
Yes — the 2017 Honda Civic earns a 4.75/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction.
Owners consistently praise its reliability, great gas mileage, and enjoyable features. You also see repeated praise for its impressive handling and spacious interior, which makes it a practical fit for daily driving. In use-case terms, that means you’re looking at a compact car that works well if you want efficiency without giving up comfort or everyday usability.
With 28.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2017 Honda Civic reliable?
Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback repeatedly highlights reliability, and it also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience with strong long-term value. That kind of feedback matters if you want a used car you can count on for daily driving and lower-stress ownership.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the model’s reputation and more about how well a specific example has been maintained.
What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Honda Civic?
At 48.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection and pay close attention to body condition, panel alignment, and signs of uneven wear. It also helps to focus on the interior and comfort features, since some owners mention missing support and storage conveniences.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Honda Civic?
This is a moderate market, so you can buy now if the right car checks out, but selective shopping still pays off.
- Deal availability: 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,724 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.96% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 48.4% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $14,858.30, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2017 Honda Civic's resale value?
The current average of $15,491 sits slightly below last year's $15,801.
That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy at a more favorable point if you plan to hold the car for a while. For a future seller, the current trend means resale value may be steadier than strong-growth, but still supported by broad buyer interest. The Civic’s strong owner satisfaction should help keep demand healthy when it’s time to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2017 Honda Civic or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2017 if:
- 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 48.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.96% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2016 if:
- At $14,138, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $15,491 average.
- It brings a more refined design and a stronger safety story.
The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced buy, the 2017 is the stronger all-around choice thanks to its owner satisfaction and current pricing. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2016 is the better value path, especially if you find one in clean condition and the lower price matters more than the newer-year premium.
