Generally — the 2017 Ford Taurus earns a 4.4/5 user rating, which points to solid owner satisfaction. Is the 2017 Ford Taurus reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback also points to a car that many people find comfortable and dependable in everyday use, with praise for its strong performance and overall livability. At the same time, some shoppers mention concerns about potential coolant issues, so you should pay close attention to maintenance history and cooling-system condition. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk looks manageable if you verify service records and inspect the car carefully before you commit.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Ford Taurus?

At 55.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, with extra attention to bodywork, alignment, and signs of past collision repair. Because owner feedback mentions possible coolant concerns, it also makes sense to focus on engine bay condition and maintenance records.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Ford Taurus?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.45% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $10,769, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Ford Taurus's resale value?

The current average of $11,048 sits slightly below last year's $11,809.

That softer pricing suggests the Taurus has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help if you buy at the right number and later resell into a stable market. For a future seller, the key is to avoid overpaying now, because resale value will depend heavily on how well the car is maintained and how clean its history is. A well-kept example with strong owner satisfaction should be easier to move than one with accident history or deferred maintenance.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Ford Taurus or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.45% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 is a sensible choice if you want a roomy full-size sedan with a softer used price and you’re willing to shop carefully for condition and history. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2017 gives you a good balance of value, inventory, and owner satisfaction.
