How much does the 2017 BMW X5 cost?

There are 1,334 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2017 BMW X5 a good car?

Yes — the 2017 BMW X5 earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its powerful engine, smooth handling, luxurious interior, and practical cabin space. That lines up well with its role as a roomy two-row luxury SUV that still feels engaging to drive, especially if you want a balance of performance and everyday usefulness. With 33.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you also have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2017 BMW X5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to dependable performance, with praise for the X5’s smooth ride and strong driving character. At the same time, some owners mention maintenance concerns, so reliability looks best when you focus on well-kept examples with clear service records. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is manageable if you verify upkeep carefully before you commit.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 BMW X5?

At 61.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with accident or title issues. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on maintenance-sensitive luxury SUVs where repair costs can add up quickly. Focus your attention on overall condition, service history, and signs of deferred maintenance rather than just mileage or trim level.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 BMW X5?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,334 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.25% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,220, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 BMW X5's resale value?

The current average of $15,221 sits slightly below last year's $16,959.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at a strong price and keep the vehicle well maintained, you can reduce the impact of further depreciation. Demand should remain supported by the X5’s strong owner satisfaction and luxury-SUV appeal.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 BMW X5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.25% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 is the better primary choice if you want the strongest mix of value, owner satisfaction, and current market softness. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby years to see whether a cleaner or cheaper example offers a better overall ownership story.

How does the 2017 BMW X5 compare to the 2017 Audi Q7?

The X5 gives you more power and a slightly larger used-market presence, while the Q7 is cheaper on average and has a higher accident-free share. If you care most about driving feel and performance, the X5 has the edge; if you want a lower average price and cleaner inventory, the Q7 is worth a close look.
