How much does the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 9.39% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,516 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of trucks to compare.

Is the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 4.3/5 user rating points to a truck that many owners feel good about living with. Owners commonly praise its comfort, features, and smooth ride, and the upscale Denali trim and thoughtful design details come up often as strengths. The Sierra also appeals if you want a full-size pickup that can work hard without feeling bare-bones, especially given its broad mix of trims and powertrains. With 31.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to dependable day-to-day comfort and a truck that many drivers feel good about keeping for the long haul. At the same time, some owners mention transmission and air-conditioning concerns, so you should treat reliability as something to verify carefully on any used example. For long-term ownership, a thorough pre-purchase inspection matters because repair risk can vary a lot from truck to truck.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 GMC Sierra 1500?

At 62.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a hands-on inspection of body panels, frame areas, and signs of prior repair. Focus on overall condition, service records, and how the truck drives, since reliability concerns make mechanical health especially important here. If possible, have a trusted mechanic check the transmission and cooling systems before you buy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 GMC Sierra 1500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on strong listings.

• Deal availability: 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,516 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.39% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,281, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $20,281 sits slightly below last year's $22,383.

That softer pricing suggests the truck has become more accessible to used buyers, which can help demand stay steady if you price yours competitively later. The current market also shows that shoppers still have plenty of listings to compare, so condition and history will matter a lot when you eventually resell. Trucks with cleaner records and stronger presentation should hold buyer interest better than average examples.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.39% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $18,822, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $20,281 average.
• It offers a polished cabin with useful comfort and convenience features.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2016 if you want the newer model-year pricing trend and strong owner satisfaction, especially if you can find a clean, well-maintained truck. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2015 is the better value path, provided its condition and equipment fit your needs.
