How much does the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD cost?

Prices have softened 8.41% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 492 listings available, which gives you a meaningful pool to compare trims, configurations, and condition.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD a good car?

The 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD stands out as a heavy-duty truck that blends serious capability with a more modern, usable feel than earlier versions. Chevrolet gave it its own styling, separate from the Silverado 1500, and improved the ride and handling enough that it was described as a cut above other large trucks.

For you, that means this truck makes the most sense if you want a durable workhorse with strong towing ability, a comfortable interior, and enough technology to feel current. It also offered a broad range of body styles and powertrains, including a 6.0-liter gas V8 and a 6.6-liter Duramax diesel, so you can shop for the setup that best matches your needs.

29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD reliable?

Reliability is generally described as good when the truck has been maintained properly. The 2016 Silverado 3500HD was built to do real work, and its heavy-duty hardware is part of what makes it appealing to used buyers.

At the same time, used examples deserve careful inspection because heavy-duty trucks often lead hard lives. For you, the long-term ownership risk is less about the model’s basic capability and more about how hard a specific truck was used and how consistently it was serviced.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD?

At 70.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on signs of hard use, repair quality, and overall mechanical condition. Because this is a heavy-duty truck, pay close attention to the drivetrain, suspension, brakes, and any evidence that the truck spent its life towing or hauling at the upper end of its capability.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay disciplined.

• Deal availability: 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 492 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.41% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $32,121, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD's resale value?

The current average of $32,121 sits slightly below last year's $35,070.

For a future seller, that means the market has already adjusted downward, so your resale upside may be more limited than it was a year ago. If you buy well and keep the truck in strong condition, you can still protect value, but the recent price trend suggests you should expect a more measured return rather than a quick appreciation story.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 70.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.41% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2016 is a strong primary choice if you want a heavy-duty truck with serious capability and a market that still offers some deal potential. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-documented truck rather than chasing the lowest sticker price alone.
