Is the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette earns a 4.9/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its exceptional performance, strong value for money, sleek design, and modern interior. For you, that means this is a sports car that delivers on both image and speed, especially if you want something that feels special before you even drive it. The Corvette’s appeal is strongest if you want a dramatic, performance-first car with a more updated cabin than older generations.

There are 32.4% good or great deals in the market, which suggests you can still find attractive pricing if you shop carefully.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels exceptional, valuable, and satisfying over time, with many drivers describing it as a dependable choice in the sports-car world. The expert summary also emphasizes that the Corvette is the kind of car you’ll wish you had bought, which reinforces its long-term desirability. The performance notes suggest a robust powertrain and strong capability, which can support confidence in ownership if the car has been maintained properly.

If you’re buying used, the biggest long-term risk is less about the model’s appeal and more about how hard it may have been driven and how well it was cared for.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Chevrolet Corvette?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a sports car like this may have seen enthusiastic use. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on signs of hard driving, wear from track use, and any evidence of smoke odor or other cabin issues. You’ll also want to pay close attention to how complete the car feels for the money, since some shoppers wanted more feature content.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base 1LT keeps the Corvette’s core performance and styling, while 2LT adds heated and ventilated seats, curb-view cameras, Bose audio, and a heads-up display. The 3LT adds leather surfaces, Napa leather seating, navigation, and the Performance Data Recorder, so it suits you best if you want the most complete cabin experience.
• Powertrain: The Corvette uses a 6.2-liter pushrod V8 with 455 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. It can run to 60 mph in under 4 seconds, and the automatic transmission is described as especially adept at keeping the car in its sweet spot.
• Safety package: The car comes standard with four airbags, side-impact airbags, a protective cell, four-wheel antilock brakes, automatic seat-belt pretensioners, and electronic stability control. Front- and rear-facing cameras are available in higher trims.
• Infotainment: Dual 8-inch screens anchor the cabin, and Chevrolet MyLink includes phone, audio, and navigation when equipped. Apple CarPlay is included, Android Auto follows later, and OnStar adds connected features.
• Fuel efficiency: The V8 uses cylinder deactivation and a tall 7th gear for highway cruising, and you should expect to frequently fill the 18-gallon tank with premium fuel.

Which 2016 Chevrolet Corvette trim should I buy?

The 2016 Chevrolet Corvette is offered in 3 trim levels: 1LT, 2LT, 3LT.

Here's the short version:

• 1LT: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the Corvette’s core performance and styling. Choose it if you care most about the driving experience and want to keep the purchase price closer to the lower end of the range.
• 2LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds heated and ventilated seats, curb-view cameras, Bose audio, and a heads-up display. If you want a more comfortable and better-equipped daily driver without jumping all the way to the top trim, this is the one to target.
• 3LT: This trim adds leather surfaces everywhere, Napa leather seating, navigation, and the Performance Data Recorder. It makes the cabin feel the most complete and suits you best if you want the most premium Corvette experience.

The safety content notes that front- and rear-facing cameras are available in higher trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Corvette?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,087 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.06% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 76.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $54,108, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette's resale value?

The current average of $54,754 sits slightly below last year's $56,485.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car has been maintained. Because this is a desirable sports car with strong owner satisfaction, clean examples should continue to draw attention from shoppers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette safe?

The Chevrolet Corvette has not been rated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The Corvette comes standard with four airbags, including side-impact airbags and a protective cell, along with four-wheel antilock brakes, automatic seat-belt pretensioners, and mandatory electronic stability control. In higher trims, front- and rear-facing cameras help with parking and backing out. The main caveat is limited visibility from the low-slung body and small windows, so you should expect a sports-car safety experience rather than a family-car one.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Corvette or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.06% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The updated interior and stop-traffic styling make this year especially appealing, and the performance package can push the car into genuinely exotic territory.

The bottom line: The 2016 Corvette is the right pick if you want the strongest mix of performance, style, and value in this generation. If you’re price-sensitive, you can still find a lot of the same appeal in the market, but the 2016 stands out as a particularly compelling year thanks to its softened pricing and strong owner satisfaction.

How does the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette compare to the 2016 Ford Mustang?

Our experts score the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette 8.5/10 and the 2016 Ford Mustang 7.5/10.

The Corvette is the more expensive and more performance-focused choice, with a much stronger expert score and a higher average used price. The Mustang is far more affordable and has more listings available, so it may fit you better if budget matters most. If you want the sharper sports car with stronger market appeal and a more premium feel, the Corvette is the better pick.
