Is the 2016 BMW X6 a good car?

Yes — the 4.5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. The 2016 BMW X6 stands out as a luxury crossover that prioritizes style and sportiness over practicality, with a coupe-like SUV shape, a more upscale cabin, and a broad list of standard luxury and safety features. It fits you best if you want a premium SUV with a dramatic profile and strong driving character rather than maximum utility. 27.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 BMW X6 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2016 BMW X6’s appeal comes from its premium content and sporty identity, including strong available engines and useful mechanical upgrades like the available Dynamic Handling Package. Its tradeoffs are more about ownership priorities than outright simplicity, since the model leans heavily into performance and luxury features. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is most likely to come from finding a well-kept example with consistent maintenance and no neglected wear items.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 BMW X6?

At 60.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on body condition, panel alignment, and signs of uneven wear, since this model’s styling and premium equipment make cosmetic and structural condition especially important. You should also focus on how the cabin, electronics, and luxury features have aged, because those details matter a lot in a vehicle like this.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 BMW X6?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 27.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 163 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.24% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,620, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 BMW X6's resale value?

The current average of $16,620 sits slightly below last year's $19,608.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the X6 more approachable for you as a buyer but also means a future seller may face a softer pricing environment. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you can help protect value better than the broader market trend suggests. The model’s premium image and distinctive styling can still support demand, especially among shoppers who want something more dramatic than a conventional SUV.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 BMW X6 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 27.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.24% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price and availability, the 2016 is the primary year to target because it combines a lower average price with a solid inventory pool and meaningful deal share. If you’re especially price-sensitive, keep an eye on listings at the low end of the range and be ready to move quickly when condition and history check out.
