Is the 2016 BMW 7 Series a good car?

Yes — the 4.8/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the powerful engine, luxurious interior, and advanced technology, and they also highlight the smooth driving experience and comfort on long trips. For you, that makes this a strong fit if you want a full-size luxury sedan that emphasizes performance and upscale features. The review summary also points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with owners repeatedly calling out its smooth, trouble-free driving character and comfort over long distances. That kind of feedback suggests the ownership experience can be rewarding if you choose carefully and stay on top of maintenance. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the driving experience and more about making sure the specific car has been well cared for.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 BMW 7 Series?

At 60.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially on a luxury sedan where repairs and options can be expensive. Focus on overall condition, service records, and how well the car’s technology and comfort features are working, since those are central to the ownership experience.

What is the 2016 BMW 7 Series's resale value?

The current average of $17,674 sits slightly below last year's $19,272.

That price movement suggests the model has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. If you keep the car in strong condition and maintain it well, you may be better positioned than someone who paid closer to the higher end of the market. The current pricing also means your resale outcome will depend heavily on mileage, condition, and how desirable your specific configuration is when you sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 BMW 7 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.29% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2016 if you want the strongest balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction in this range. If your priority is simply finding the lowest entry price, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2016 stands out as the more compelling all-around buy when you want a luxury flagship with broad market availability.
