Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, rear-seat legroom, and upscale feel. They also highlight the smooth ride and strong performance, along with the technology and overall driving experience.
33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is worth weighing carefully because older examples show more history concerns and ownership costs can be significant.
What should I look for when buying a used Audi A8?
Across all model years, at 72.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
| Model Year | Accident-Free % |
|---|---|
| 2026 | 87.1% |
| 2025 | 90.4% |
| 2024 | 92.7% |

| 2016 | 56.3% |
| 2015 | 56.7% |
| 2014 | 56.5% |
Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2019 models.
What Audi A8 do most buyers choose?
The Audi A8 years with the most listings are 2020, 2022, and 2018.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2020 | 216 | 34.3% |
| 2022 | 202 | 39.1% |
| 2018 | 172 | 30.8% |
| 2019 | 159 | 31.4% |
| 2016 | 158 | 27.2% |
| 2015 | 157 | 25.5% |
The highest-volume years tend to attract more shoppers because they offer a broader selection and more pricing variety. That usually makes it easier to compare trims, mileage, and deal quality side by side.
What is the Audi A8's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2021 | $36,255 | −16.23% |
| 2017 | $18,158 | −14.88% |
| 2019 | $27,736 | −9.31% |
| 2015 | $15,418 | −7.5% |
The table shows broad downward movement across the model years listed, which can create better opportunities for used buyers. The largest drops are in the double digits, while the smaller declines still point to softer pricing over the past year. That pattern gives you more room to find value if you're shopping carefully.
The 2015, 2019, and 2017 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
Should I buy a used Audi A8 now or wait for the next model?
Buy now if:
- Price trend: The 2021 model is at −16.23% versus a year ago, and the 2019 model is at −9.31%.
- Deal availability: The 2019 model has 31.4% good and great deals.
- Sweet-spot year: The 2020 model has the most listings.
If you're buying used today, the 2020 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the newest version, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.

Great car with all the options that you can’t find on a diesel equipped car , that is why the asking price is so high it again make sure you have a good mechanic as a friend to keep it in the same shape and condition .

One very rare car , I will compare it with my 760 Li 12 cylinders , it has couple more options like the seats rear roof window and extra dedicated special control for message , But the best of all is that is a diesel car and very rarely you can find one with those options .

Overview
The Audi A8 replaces the old Audi V8, discontinued in 1994. It is the top-end of Audi's luxury sedan class, which includes the A4 and A6, offering full-size comfort, but the handling and maneuverability of a much smaller car, thanks to some technological innovations.
Audi is known for elegantly-appointed interiors, with loads of standard features that make the word "options" obsolete. Over its history, the A8 only continued to add on, offering leather seats, 16-way adjustable front seats, front and rear lumbar support, a solar sunroof, rear window shades, front and rear climate control, heated seats and steering wheel, and massaging seats. Again, these are all standard. Audi figures we spend so much time in our cars, they must satisfy a variety of needs -- from the roominess and cargo space of families, to the sophisticated quiet luxury of business clients, to the personal quest for driving excitement. The Audi A8 offers all of these in a classically styled, understated package.
Some of the A8's innovations contribute to its precise, yet powerful performance. The A8 was the first U.S. car to feature an aluminum body, engine, and suspension. The Audi Space Frame technology greatly reduced the weight of this full-size sedan, thereby increasing fuel economy and engine performance on the highway. It handled more nimbly than comparably-sized cars, but the aluminum gave it more rigidity for tighter control on the road. Audi's continued quattro technology remains unbeaten, even by SUVs, in the way it attacks snow and ice. An adaptive air suspension system, introduced recently, allows the driver to adjust the suspension to specific road conditions for maximum balance and performance.
Audi has always suffered from a poor customer service reputation and costly maintenance records. But overall, drivers feel the A8 far surpasses its German brethren in terms of quality build and interior comfort, and the AWD is one of the best out there. The A8's understated exterior often causes it to be overlooked, but its technical advances and creature comforts seem to strike the right balance of form and function without overwhelming its passengers.
