You should start with the history report so you can confirm accident status, title status, and ownership patterns before you get too far into the process. Should I buy a 2016 Tesla Model S or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 75% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 is a strong choice if you want a used Model S with broad availability, stable pricing, and strong owner approval. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby older year may be worth a look, but you should expect to trade some of the 2016’s balance of features and market stability for a lower entry price.
