How much does the 2015 Toyota 4Runner cost?

Prices have softened 2.42% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,127 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2015 Toyota 4Runner a good car?

Generally — 4.43/5 from owners and 7.33/10 from expert testing point to a model that fits you well if you value rugged utility over everyday polish. The owner feedback repeatedly highlights a smooth ride, comfortable seating, and strong reliability, while the expert assessment emphasizes off-road ability and cargo-hauling usefulness. If you want a truck-like SUV that can handle rough terrain and carry a lot of gear, this year’s 4Runner lines up with that use case. The market also shows 31.9% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2015 Toyota 4Runner reliable?

Owners rate it 4.43/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction. The owner summary specifically points to strong reliability, and the expert cost-effectiveness notes reinforce that with mention of impressive reliability ratings and value retention. The same assessment also says maintenance is free for the first two years or 25,000 miles, which helps early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about durability and more about whether the vehicle’s hard use, age, and mileage have been managed well.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Toyota 4Runner?

At 57.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the SUV has been used off-road or for towing. Pay close attention to suspension condition, tire wear, underbody damage, and signs of hard use, since this model’s appeal often comes from capability that can also mean tougher lives. If you’re comparing multiple listings, focus on how well each one has been maintained rather than just the odometer reading.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SR5 is rear-wheel drive, while the Trail adds standard 4WD, a locking rear differential, selectable driving modes, crawl control, and Downhill Assist Control. The Limited shifts toward comfort with leather seats, ventilated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 15-speaker JBL audio system, keyless entry with push-button start, front and rear parking sensors, and Safety Connect. The TRD Pro adds TRD Bilstein high-performance shocks with rear remote reservoirs, TRD front springs, a TRD aluminum front skid plate, matte-black 17-inch wheels, beefy off-road tires, aggressive styling, and a higher ride height.
• Powertrain: The 4Runner uses a 4.0-liter V6 with 270 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission. The expert notes that it feels adequate but not especially quick, and fuel economy is described as dismal.
• Safety package: Every 4Runner gets a reversing camera and Hill Start Assist Control. Models with 4WD also include Active Traction Control and Downhill Assist Control. The Trail adds terrain-focused systems, while the Limited is the only trim with Safety Connect. The expert also notes the absence of blind-spot monitoring.
• Infotainment: The TRD Pro’s standard setup includes a 6.1-inch touchscreen, navigation, upgraded stereo speakers, and Entune App Suite smartphone connectivity. Predictive traffic and weather features are included, along with a USB 2.0 port. The larger 7-inch screen is exclusive to the Limited.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert says the EPA expected 18 mpg in combined driving, and the test vehicle returned 16.8 mpg.

Which 2015 Toyota 4Runner trim should I buy?

The 2015 Toyota 4Runner is offered in 4 trim levels: SR5, Trail, TRD Pro and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• SR5: This is the entry point, but the rear-wheel-drive setup makes it the least compelling choice if you want the 4Runner’s core capability. It makes sense only if you’re prioritizing the lowest rung in the lineup and plan to add the optional Premium Package for more comfort and tech.
• Trail: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds standard 4WD, a locking rear differential, crawl control, selectable terrain modes, and Downhill Assist Control. If you want the 4Runner for real trail use, this is the trim that most clearly leans into that mission.
• TRD Pro: This is the most off-road-focused version, with Bilstein shocks, TRD springs, a front skid plate, and off-road tires. Choose it if you want the most rugged hardware and don’t mind paying for it.
• Limited: This is the comfort-oriented choice, with leather, ventilated front seats, JBL audio, parking sensors, and Safety Connect. It suits you best if you want the 4Runner’s size and capability but care more about daily comfort than trail hardware.

The Trail’s off-road equipment and the Limited’s comfort and safety features make those the two trims most worth cross-shopping.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Toyota 4Runner?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,127 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.42% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 57.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,381, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Toyota 4Runner's resale value?

The current average of $21,869 sits slightly below last year's $22,412.

That softer pricing suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more efficiently now. For a future seller, the current trend implies you may not see immediate appreciation, but the 4Runner’s reputation for reliability and utility should help support demand. If you keep the vehicle in clean condition and avoid heavy wear, you’ll be in a better position when it’s time to resell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.43/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Toyota 4Runner safe?

The 2015 Toyota 4Runner earns a 3/10 safety score from our experts.

Aside from a standard reversing camera, it offers few of the latest active safety features, and the expert review specifically calls out the lack of blind-spot monitoring. Safety Connect is reserved for the Limited trim, where it can provide emergency assistance after a collision or if you need help for another reason. The expert also flags the SUV’s high center of gravity and its crash-test and rollover-resistance ratings as reasons it is not recommended as a family vehicle.

Should I buy a 2015 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 57.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.42% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.43/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The TRD Pro is built for hard-core off-road enthusiasts and excels on rock-strewn paths.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $20,022, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $21,869 average.
• It blends comfortable daily driving with true off-road capability.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $24,022, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $21,869 average.
• It adds cell-phone navigation and more towing capacity.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of price, owner satisfaction, and rugged capability, the 2015 is the primary year to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2014 is the better value play; if you want a bit more utility and don’t mind paying up, the 2016 is the upgrade path.
