Is the 2015 Subaru Impreza a good car?

Generally — you’re looking at a 4/5 user-rated car with an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

The 2015 Impreza is framed as a compact commuter with standard all-wheel drive, better interior amenities, a quieter cabin, and improved in-car technology. It is also described as a practical all-weather choice that emphasizes everyday usefulness over excitement, with a small engine and a less-than-thrilling transmission.

The model’s 31.5% good or great deal share suggests there are still worthwhile listings to find.

Is the 2015 Subaru Impreza reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2015 Impreza is presented as a capable, practical compact with a strong focus on all-weather usability and a reputation for value. Its flat-4 layout and all-wheel-drive setup support the car’s dependable, no-nonsense character, while the improved interior and technology help it feel more polished than earlier versions.

The available maintenance and ownership-cost messaging points to strong value and brand loyalty, which can help reduce long-term ownership stress for used buyers.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Subaru Impreza?

At 56.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on cars with higher mileage or visible cosmetic wear. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the cabin and technology features still work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup starts with the entry 2.0i and moves up through 2.0i Premium and 2.0i Limited, with sedan and Sport hatchback body styles. The Premium trims add more equipment, while Limited trims bring the most upscale cabin and tech touches, including the larger touchscreen.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a 2.0-liter flat-4 with 148 hp and 145 lb-ft of torque. The CVT is the default transmission on most trims, while the 5-speed manual is limited to the base and Sport Premium models.
• Safety package: EyeSight is standard on the 2.0i Premium trim and includes adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, and pre-collision braking. The rest of the lineup gets 4-wheel antilock disc brakes plus stability and traction control.
• Infotainment: A 6.2-inch touchscreen is standard, and Limited trims get a 7-inch touchscreen. Subaru also makes a rear backup camera standard across all models.
• Fuel efficiency: With the CVT, the Impreza returns 27/36/31 mpg city/highway/combined. The manual transmission lowers those figures slightly.

Which 2015 Subaru Impreza trim should I buy?

The 2015 Subaru Impreza is offered in 3 trim levels: 2.0i, 2.0i Premium, 2.0i Limited.

Here's the short version:

• 2.0i: This is the entry point if you want the lowest-cost way into the Impreza’s standard all-wheel-drive setup and core practicality. It gives you the basic formula, but you give up the richer equipment and driver-assistance content found higher up the range.
• 2.0i Premium: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the key safety upgrade with EyeSight, along with the features that make the car feel more complete day to day. If you want the strongest balance of value, safety, and usability, this is the one to target.
• 2.0i Limited: Choose this if you want the most upscale version of the Impreza, including the larger 7-inch touchscreen and the most premium-feeling cabin presentation. It makes the most sense if you care more about comfort and tech than keeping the purchase price down.

The safety-package standout is EyeSight on the 2.0i Premium trim, while the rest of the lineup relies on the standard brake and stability hardware.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Subaru Impreza?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and enough deal activity to make shopping worthwhile.

• Deal availability: 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 699 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.17% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 56.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $9,802, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Subaru Impreza's resale value?

The current average of $10,110 sits slightly below last year's $10,229.

That mild decline suggests the market has softened a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now. For a future seller, the current pricing trend implies you may not see rapid appreciation, but the drop is modest rather than severe.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Subaru Impreza safe?

The 2015 Subaru Impreza earns a Good rating from IIHS and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Subaru’s EyeSight suite is standard on the 2.0i Premium trim and includes adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, and pre-collision braking. The rest of the lineup comes with 4-wheel antilock disc brakes plus stability and traction control.

A key caveat is that EyeSight is not standard across the whole lineup, so lower trims miss out on the full driver-assistance package.

Should I buy a 2015 Subaru Impreza or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.17% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It brings a mid-cycle facelift, better interior materials, and upgraded technology.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $9,017, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $10,110 average.
• It offers affordable, versatile, efficient all-wheel-drive practicality.

The bottom line: If you want the better-rounded Impreza, the 2015 is the stronger pick because it adds meaningful interior and tech improvements without a huge price jump. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2014 is the better value play, especially if you mainly want the Impreza’s all-wheel-drive practicality.
