CarGurus Analysis: 2015 Kia Soul
overall

Summary
With 95 currently listed for sale near Washington, DC and an average price of $7,494, 25.3% of 2015 Kia Souls for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.

Why it stands out
The 2015 Kia Soul stands out by turning a boxy, unconventional shape into something genuinely appealing rather than merely practical. It offers the kind of everyday usefulness most people need, along with a few surprise-and-delight touches that make it feel more special than its size and price might suggest. That combination of personality and value is a big part of its appeal, especially for buyers who want a small car that does not blend into the crowd.
At the same time, the 2015 Kia Soul is not presented as perfect. More power would be welcome, and additional trunk space would help, along with a couple of extra safety features. Even so, those shortcomings are framed as relatively minor against a car that is described as terrific, well equipped, and strong on technology, safety ratings, and quality. Owners also tend to praise its spacious interior, comfort, value for money, good fuel economy, and fun driving experience, which reinforces the Soul’s reputation as a practical choice with an unusually upbeat character.

Super smooth ride, responsive steering, seats great for back problems, large interior and cool edgy look! I purchased the 2015 Kia Soul + and so far the only down sides are rear passenger side blind spot, and not quick to accelerate. Best purchase Ive ever made! Truly an amazing car!

How much does the 2015 Kia Soul cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $7,919 |
| Year-Round Low | $7,623 |
| Year-Round High | $8,369 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $8,087 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −2.08% |
Prices have softened 2.08% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 1,174 listings available, which suggests you have a decent amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2015 Kia Soul a good car?
Generally — 4.36/5 from owners and 8/10 from experts, the 2015 Kia Soul lands as a strong all-around pick. The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness and Safety.
Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, comfort, value for money, good fuel economy, and fun driving experience. That lines up well with the Soul’s use case as a practical small car with personality, especially if you want something useful that still feels distinctive. The market also shows 28.4% good or great deals, which adds to the appeal if you’re shopping carefully.
Is the 2015 Kia Soul reliable?
Owners rate it 4.36/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many shoppers, with repeated praise for value, comfort, and everyday usability. Expert commentary also frames the Soul as a car you can count on for the kind of daily driving most people need, while the cost-effectiveness notes point to dependable over time and inexpensive to own language. Kia’s free UVO eServices also includes 911 Connect for the first 10 years or 100,000 miles, which adds some ownership convenience.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that some listings may have been driven hard or may lack the features you want, so condition and maintenance history matter.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Kia Soul?
At 55.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the car’s equipment matches what you expect from the trim. Because some listings may have accident history, a clean-looking exterior is not enough on its own.

- Trim level: The loaded test vehicle adds leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, an 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, an Infinity premium audio system, LED interior lighting, HID headlights, LED running lights, Smart Key entry with push-button start, a heated steering wheel, heated front and rear seats, and ventilated front seats. The base trim is much simpler, so feature gaps can be significant.
- Powertrain: The Soul uses a 164-hp, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. It is described as zippy around town, but more power would still be welcome.
- Safety package: The Soul includes 911 Connect through UVO eServices, plus Speed Alert, Curfew Alert, Geo Fence, and Driving Score features. It also has a reversing camera, but blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert is not available.
- Infotainment: Higher trims can bring an 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, Kia UVO eServices, Siri Eyes Free, Google Local Search, Bluetooth audio, Pandora Internet radio, and smartphone integration.
- Fuel efficiency: The test vehicle returned 24.6 mpg in combined driving, with EPA estimates of 23 mpg city and 31 mpg highway.
Which 2015 Kia Soul trim should I buy?
The 2015 Kia Soul is offered in 1 trim level: !.
Here's the short version:
!: This is the standout choice if you want the most personality and the richest feature set. The test vehicle shows how far this trim can go, with leather, a panoramic sunroof, an 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, premium audio, heated and ventilated seats, and push-button start. If you want the Soul to feel special rather than merely practical, this is the trim that best captures that character.
The safety content also notes that the Soul is unavailable with blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, so that omission is worth keeping in mind no matter which trim you choose.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Kia Soul?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.
- Deal availability: 28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,174 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.08% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 55.7% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $7,623, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Kia Soul's resale value?
The current average of $7,919 sits slightly below last year's $8,087.
That softer pricing suggests the Soul is in a buyer-friendly phase right now, which can matter if you plan to sell later. A lower entry price today can help keep your ownership costs manageable, but it also means future resale gains may be modest unless the car is especially clean, well maintained, and well equipped. Strong demand for practical, value-oriented cars should still help support interest from used buyers.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.36/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2015 Kia Soul safe?
The 2015 Kia Soul earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
The Soul includes 911 Connect through UVO eServices, which can automatically alert emergency responders after a collision if a paired smartphone is present. It also adds Speed Alert, Curfew Alert, Geo Fence, and Driving Score features that can be especially useful for teen drivers. The main caveat is that the Soul lacks modern active safety features such as blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, aside from a reversing camera.
Should I buy a 2015 Kia Soul or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 55.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.08% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.36/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- Expert or safety highlight specific to this year: it earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.
Consider the 2014 if:
- At $7,106, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $7,919 average.
- It offers a distinctive, attention-getting hatchback with useful tech for everyday driving.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around package, the 2015 is the better primary choice thanks to its value, safety, and owner satisfaction. If your budget is tighter, the 2014 is the sensible fallback because it delivers much of the Soul’s personality at a lower price.
