How much does the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 8.79% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,093 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 earns a 4.18/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Form and function and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its strong performance, roomy interior, and versatility as both a work and family vehicle. The overview also points to a smart interior, a mature exterior, and useful comfort and convenience features, which fits shoppers who want a full-size pickup that feels more polished than basic. Good and great deals make up 28.3% of listings, so there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.18/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback highlights strong performance and versatility, and it also points to a truck many people feel good about living with over time. The expert notes also emphasize a commonsense approach and a well-rounded package, while the cost-effectiveness section says a recent dependability survey by JD Power awarded the Sierra 1500 top honors among its competition. A standard, 2-year scheduled maintenance program covers the truck for up to 24,000 miles.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that some owners have reported mechanical issues, so a careful pre-purchase inspection matters.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 GMC Sierra 1500?

At 63.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of bodywork, frame condition, and signs of prior repair. Because this truck is often used for work and towing, it also makes sense to focus on wear items, cabin condition, and evidence of hard use. If a listing looks especially clean, confirm that the condition matches the price before moving quickly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sierra comes in one regular cab configuration and two 4-door cab options, with box-length choices that vary by cab. The interior is functional and spacious, with three USB charging stations, multiple power outlets, a large center console with file-folder hangers, and a roomy back seat. The Denali stands out with a bright chrome wire mesh grille, while the base setup is more businesslike and less upscale.
• Powertrain: The truck offers a 4.3-liter V6, a 5.3-liter V8, and a 6.2-liter V8. The V6 and 5.3-liter V8 use a 6-speed gearbox, while the 6.2-liter Denali gets an 8-speed transmission. The 6.2-liter is described as a little too much for some buyers, while the V6 does not deliver much fuel-saving advantage.
• Safety package: The Sierra includes optional lane-departure warning, front-collision alert, active seat rumbling, hands-free Siri integration, and a rear backup camera. The camera is especially useful because of the truck’s tall stance.
• Infotainment: The truck features IntelliLink, which is described as easy to navigate, and the cabin includes an 8-inch touchscreen. A 4G/LTE wireless hotspot is available with 3GB of free data before buyers must pay for the feature.
• Fuel efficiency: The 4.3-liter V6 with 4WD is rated around 17 mpg city and 22 highway. The 5.3-liter V8 with 4WD is rated 16/22, and the 6.2-liter V8 with 4WD is rated 14/20.

Which 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 is offered in 4 trim levels: base Sierra, SLE, SLT, and Sierra Denali.

Here's the short version:

• Sierra: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the Sierra’s core capability without paying for extra luxury content. It comes with the 4.3-liter V6, and it is the most straightforward choice for buyers who care more about utility than upscale features.
• SLE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds access to the more popular 5.3-liter V8 while keeping the truck’s practical, easy-to-use character. If you want a balanced mix of capability and everyday comfort, this is the trim to focus on first.
• SLT: This trim builds on the SLE formula with a more premium feel and the same broad powertrain flexibility. It suits you if you want more comfort and convenience without jumping all the way to the top-end model.
• Sierra Denali: This is the luxury-oriented choice, with the 6.2-liter V8, an 8-speed transmission, a chrome-heavy exterior, and available features like heated and ventilated seats, adjustable pedals, and 8-way power seats. It is the right pick if you want the most upscale Sierra experience and do not mind paying for it.

The safety package is optional, so make sure the truck you choose includes the driver-assistance features you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 GMC Sierra 1500?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and deal activity to reward careful shopping.

• Deal availability: 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,093 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.79% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,903, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $18,903 sits slightly below last year's $20,725.

That price movement suggests the truck has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right number. A softer market today can also make it easier to find a cleaner example without overpaying, which matters when you eventually resell. Trucks with broad appeal and strong owner satisfaction often hold buyer interest better than niche alternatives.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.18/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 safe?

The 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 earns a Good rating from IIHS and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, including five-star ratings for frontal and side crashes and a four-star rating for rollover.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The Sierra also includes optional lane-departure warning, front-collision alert, active seat rumbling, hands-free Siri integration, and a rear backup camera. The backup camera is especially important in a tall truck like this, and the safety suite helps offset some of the distraction risk created by the cabin’s many controls and displays.

Should I buy a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.79% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.18/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 keeps the smart interior, mature exterior, and broad powertrain lineup that define this generation.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $16,560, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $18,903 average.
• Redesigned for 2014, it brought a major step forward in comfort, technology, capability, and safety.

The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced shopping target, the 2015 is the stronger all-around pick because it combines a softened price, solid owner satisfaction, and a well-rounded feature set. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2014 is the value alternative worth considering, especially if you find one in clean condition.
