What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Dodge Charger?

At 49.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important on a car like this, since condition can vary a lot depending on how it was driven and maintained. Focus on signs of wear, uneven panel gaps, and any evidence that the car’s performance equipment or electronics have been modified or neglected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SE uses 17-inch wheels, while the SXT gets 18-inch wheels and more features; higher trims move to 20-inch wheels, and the SRT 392 adds bigger brakes, suspension tuning, and SRT-only interior packages.
• Powertrain: The standard 3.6-liter V6 makes 292 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, pairs with an 8-speed automatic, and is the only engine available with AWD; the lineup also includes 5.7-liter, 6.4-liter, and supercharged 6.2-liter V8 options.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes front and side curtain airbags, a driver knee airbag, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, pre-tensioning and height-adjusting seatbelts, and rear child-seat anchors; lane-departure warning, frontal-collision warning, and backup cameras are optional, and many active-safety features are bundled into separate packages.
• Infotainment: All models get UConnect, with an optional 8.4-inch touchscreen and a 7-inch multifunction driver display; the driver display is crisp and helpful, while the touchscreen is starting to show its age.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 returns 19 mpg city/31 mpg highway with rear-wheel drive or 18/27 with AWD, while the 5.7-liter V8 is rated at 16/25 mpg and the 6.4-liter V8 at 15/25 mpg.

Which 2015 Dodge Charger trim should I buy?

The 2015 Dodge Charger is offered in 7 trim levels: SE, SXT, R/T, R/T Road & Track, R/T Scat Pack, SRT 392, Hellcat.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, and it keeps things simple with the standard V6 and 17-inch wheels. It makes sense if you want the Charger shape and space at the lowest starting point, but you give up the richer feature content and larger wheels found higher up the range.
• SXT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds more features than the SE while staying on the V6 and keeping the Charger easy to live with. If you want the most balanced mix of everyday usability, comfort, and price, this is the trim to target.
• R/T: This is where the Charger starts leaning harder into muscle-car character, with the 5.7-liter V8 and the stronger performance that comes with it. Choose it if you care more about V8 power than maximizing value.
• R/T Road & Track: This trim builds on the R/T formula and keeps the V8 focus while aiming at buyers who want a more performance-oriented setup. It suits you if you want extra attitude without jumping all the way to the higher-output specialty trims.
• R/T Scat Pack: This is the serious performance sweet spot, pairing the 6.4-liter V8 with the strongest mainstream muscle-car appeal in the lineup. It’s the right pick if you want the most excitement without going to the extreme top end.
• SRT 392: This trim adds bigger brakes, suspension tuning, and SRT-only interior packages, so it’s the choice for buyers who want a more specialized performance setup. It makes sense if you want the Charger’s muscle-car personality with more hardware to match.
• Hellcat: This is the wildest version, with the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 and the most extreme performance in the lineup. Buy it only if you specifically want maximum output and are comfortable with the tradeoffs that come with it.

The safety content notes that optional active-safety features are spread across multiple packages, so check carefully to make sure the car you’re considering has the equipment you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Dodge Charger?

This is a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 24.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 783 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.05% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 49.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,421, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Dodge Charger's resale value?

The current average of $13,068 sits slightly below last year's $13,479.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right number. If you shop carefully now, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss later because the market is already pricing in some of the model’s age.

The Charger’s broad appeal also helps support demand, especially for shoppers who want a roomy sedan with strong performance. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.18/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Dodge Charger safe?

The Charger earns Good ratings from the IIHS.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety package includes front and side curtain airbags, a driver knee airbag, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, pre-tensioning and height-adjusting seatbelts, and rear child-seat anchors. Optional equipment includes lane-departure warning, frontal-collision warning systems, and backup cameras, but many of those active-safety features are split across separate packages that can add significantly to the price.

The main caveat is that NHTSA data for this model year is incomplete, so you should not assume every crash-test result is fully documented here. If safety is a priority, verify the exact equipment on the car you’re considering rather than assuming it has the optional driver-assistance tech.

Should I buy a 2015 Dodge Charger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 24.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 49.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.05% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.18/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It adds a sleeker front end, a brighter rear design, and a more aggressive overall look.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $10,475, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $13,068 average.
• It blends bold styling with a more sophisticated character than its retro shell suggests.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $15,440, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $13,068 average.
• It feels like a more satisfying family sedan than its image suggests.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price, style, and broad market availability, the 2015 is the smart default. If your budget is tighter, the 2014 can save you money, while the 2016 makes sense if you’re willing to pay more for a newer-feeling alternative.
