CarGurus Analysis: 2015 Chevrolet Impala
overall

Summary
With 576 currently listed for sale and an average price of $10,681.00, 24.8% of 2015 Chevrolet Impalas for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2015 Chevrolet Impala 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7 / 10.
52.1% of 2015 Impala models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2015 Chevrolet Impala stands out as a full-size family sedan that delivers the kind of easy, confident driving experience many buyers want from a big car. It has no trouble merging onto fast-flowing freeways or kicking down a gear for passing power, and what makes it especially enjoyable is how predictable and consistent it is. That combination gives it a calm, composed character that suits everyday commuting as well as longer highway drives.
Its appeal also comes from the practical advantages that define the segment: a few inches of extra space and a few cubic feet of additional trunk room. Those strengths make it a sensible choice for shoppers who value comfort and cargo capacity. At the same time, the Impala’s case is tempered by the tradeoffs that come with a large sedan, including purchase price and fuel economy. Even so, it remains worthy of consideration for buyers who want a roomy, comfortable car with a smooth ride and a stylish design.

#1 this car literally saved mine and my boyfriends life! It took almost a direct broadside hit from a suburban driving 80 mph! Side airbags came out, b/c of the intensity of impact, we still got banged up, but we both walked away! #2- my impala was fully loaded, and so it had all the bells and whistles you could want making it a very comfortable car #3- it looks classy. I had blk on blk, tinted windows, even when it was dirty she still looked good! #4- she was a dream to drive: quiet, smooth, fast when you wanted (thats the only bad part, we have to watch your speed b/c otherwise, you are going close to 90 mph but it feels and sounds like you are going 50mph!) Reliable- never once had any issues with this car, mechanically, electrical, body, etc. I did all the regular maintenance and she never let me down. I cant say enough good things about my impala. I highly, highly recommend this car!

That lines up with the overview: you get a full-size family sedan that feels calm, composed, and easy to live with on commutes and highway trips. For shoppers who want space, comfort, and a relaxed driving experience, that combination is a strong fit.
With 23.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2015 Chevrolet Impala reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback points to reliability, comfort, and a trouble-free feel over time, with many owners describing it as a car they can count on for long-term ownership. The expert review also describes the Impala as predictable and consistent, which reinforces the sense that it’s easy to live with day to day.
The cost-effectiveness review adds that quality and reliability are slightly better than average, which is encouraging for used buyers. If you’re shopping one, the main long-term risk is less about the basic character of the car and more about finding an example that has been maintained well and hasn’t accumulated avoidable wear.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Chevrolet Impala?
At 53.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, alignment, and any signs of prior repair. Because this is a large sedan, it’s also smart to focus on visibility-related wear, tire condition, and how the car feels at highway speed and during parking maneuvers.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base setup comes with the 4-cylinder engine, while the 2LT and 2LTZ bring the V6; the interior is described as busy, and the more expensive versions look and feel more upscale.
- Powertrain: The most powerful engine is a 3.6-liter V6 with 305 hp and 264 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic; it delivers quick passing power and confident highway merging.
- Safety package: The Advanced Safety Package includes blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and forward-collision warning; adaptive cruise control with front automatic braking is reserved for the most expensive version with an added option.
- Infotainment: MyLink infotainment works with OnStar services, supports Pandora, and includes text-message alerts; the cabin also offers three USB ports and an available 4G LTE Wi-Fi connection.
- Fuel efficiency: The EPA says to expect between 18 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, depending on configuration.
Which 2015 Chevrolet Impala trim should I buy?
The 2015 Chevrolet Impala is offered in 3 trim levels: LS, 2LT, 2LTZ.
Here's the short version:
- LS: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and can live with the standard 4-cylinder setup.
- 2LT: This is the best-value trim because it unlocks the V6 and brings the Impala’s stronger performance character without jumping all the way to the top end.
- 2LTZ: Choose this if you want the most upscale version and are willing to pay more for the highest-spec experience.
The safety package is available on other versions for a reasonable price, while the most expensive version is needed for the adaptive cruise control system with front automatic braking.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Chevrolet Impala?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.
- Deal availability: 23.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 577 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.28% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 53.4% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $10,549.38, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Chevrolet Impala's resale value?
The current average of $10,634 sits slightly below last year's $11,470.
That price movement suggests the Impala has softened, which can be good for you as a buyer but less favorable if you’re thinking about future resale. A lower entry price can help offset depreciation, but it also means you should be realistic about how much value the car may retain over time.
The upside is that strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it’s time to sell. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2015 Chevrolet Impala safe?
The Impala earns five-star ratings from NHTSA and a Good rating in the IIHS moderate overlap frontal impact and side impact tests.
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
The Impala comes with 10 airbags, and Chevrolet offers an Advanced Safety Package with blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and forward-collision warning. The most advanced front crash prevention setup requires the top version plus an added adaptive cruise control system with front automatic braking.
One caveat is that the IIHS did not test the car in other assessments, so there isn’t an overall IIHS rating here. The safety tech is useful, but some of the alerts are described as uneven in practice, so you’ll want to test them yourself during a drive.
Should I buy a 2015 Chevrolet Impala or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 23.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 53.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.28% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2015 stands out for its calm, predictable driving character and strong technology score.
Consider the 2014 if:
- At $9,876, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $10,634 average.
- It emphasizes standout styling and a more upscale feel.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around package, the 2015 is the better target because it combines a lower current average price with strong owner satisfaction and solid tech. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2014 is the value-oriented alternative, especially if styling and comfort matter more than the latest features.
