Why it stands out
The 2014 Toyota Sienna stands out as a practical minivan that does its job well, even if it is not the class leader. It is aimed at buyers who value utility and functionality, and that focus makes it appealing for families who need a vehicle that is easy to live with.
What gives the 2014 Toyota Sienna Limited a more distinctive feel is its second-row lounge-style captain’s chairs, which turn the cabin into a first-class space for passengers. Those seats provide serious stretch-your-legs room, making this version especially attractive for anyone who cares about second-row comfort as much as everyday usefulness.

Have owned two AWD Toyota Sienna’s and looking for our 3rd. Great vehicles. More expensive than other minivans, but you get what you pay for.

Reviewed a 2014 Toyota Sienna on May 21, 2022
This minivan checks in most of the features a family can look for, it is roomy, has the most second row seats in class, huge cargo space even with the 3rd row seat up, the engine has enough power to haul the whole family, cargo and even tow 3500 lbs, it looks good outside, and the engine and transmission are pretty reliable mainly because of it’s timing chain design, pretty much bulletproof with adequate maintenance, the only drawbacks are it’s 2nd row seats not being stowaway ones, you will have to remove them to make more space if needed but that’s if you need a ton of space for cargo, they are also heavy and not that easy to remove. The other drawback is the interior front console materials, too much plastic which also looks cheap but surprisingly it takes the use and abuse a family can throw at it. The 2018 and up models have better materials but again, it’s matter of looks. I rather pick the Sienna over the Odyssey because of the Honda’s timing belt engine design, you have to do a major work every 75k miles which is gonna set you some $1500 back, not the Sienna, the Odyssey has a visually better front console, seats and overal interior craftsmanship, looks fancier but ultimately I believe the Sienna will go the distance with more authority, also remember the Sienna has more horse power and that’s also a plus when driving a heavy vehicle full of family people and cargo, thats why I rather chose the Sienna. There are other options like the Dodge Grand Caravan which has stowaway 2nd row seats, and a beefy engine but reliability is not on par with Toyota off course about $5k less on price, also consider the Kia Sedona, great alternative, very spacious and great design, this one and the Sienna have available ottoman 2nd row seats, rear entertainment system. All models getting better with the new technology.

| Year-Round Low | $12,489 |
| Year-Round High | $13,473 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $13,211 |

There are 977 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.
Is the 2014 Toyota Sienna a good car?
Yes — 4.67/5 from users, and 6.67/10 from expert testing. The model scores 8/10 across Form and function and Cost effectiveness.
The 2014 Toyota Sienna is aimed at buyers who value utility and functionality, and that focus makes it especially appealing if you want an easy-to-live-with family vehicle. The expert evaluation also points to strong practicality and value, even if it is not the class leader.
29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so you still have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2014 Toyota Sienna reliable?
Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The expert evaluation describes favorable reliability expectations and notes that dependability has been recognized positively. It also points to a practical ownership profile, with free scheduled maintenance for the first 2 years or 25,000 miles of ownership.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the van has been maintained well, since a family hauler can accumulate wear quickly.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Toyota Sienna?
At 54.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on crash repairs, brake condition, and signs of heavy family use. Pay close attention to how the van drives, how the cabin equipment works, and whether the vehicle shows wear that matches its mileage.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base Sienna L is the most affordable entry point, while the LE adds upgraded exterior trim, dark tinted rear privacy glass, power sliding side doors, rear bumper protection, an 8-way power adjustable driver seat, triple-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth connectivity, satellite radio, a USB port, upgraded speakers, and a reversing camera. The XLE adds leather upholstery, heated front seats, a power sunroof, automatic headlights, and other comfort upgrades, while the Limited adds premium touches such as Smart Key passive entry with push-button start, a premium audio system, 2-tone leather seats, memory for the driver’s settings, and second-row lounge-style captain’s chairs. The best-value trim is the LE if you want the strongest mix of equipment and price.
- Powertrain: Every 2014 Toyota Sienna uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 266 hp and 245 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The engine is described as responsive and strong, and all-wheel drive is available.
- Safety package: The Limited includes Blind-Spot Monitor, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Safety Connect with Automatic Collision Notification, while Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and Pre-Collision System appear in the available advanced package. Toyota reserves some of the best safety equipment for the most expensive versions, and Lane-Departure Warning is not mentioned.
- Infotainment: The Limited’s infotainment system is described as dated in screen size and resolution, but it includes physical knobs and buttons, Bluetooth, satellite radio, and a DVD player. The text does not mention wireless CarPlay, Android Auto, or OTA capability.
- Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimate is 21 mpg in combined driving, and the test vehicle returned 19.3 mpg. The model is also described as offering better fuel economy than a typical 3-row crossover SUV.
Which 2014 Toyota Sienna trim should I buy?
The 2014 Toyota Sienna is offered in 4 trim levels: Sienna L, Sienna LE, Sienna SE, Sienna XLE, Sienna Limited.
Here's the short version:
- Sienna L: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and do not need many extras.
- Sienna LE: This is the best-value trim because it adds the most useful everyday equipment, including power sliding doors, climate control upgrades, Bluetooth, satellite radio, a USB port, and a reversing camera.
- Sienna SE: Choose this if you want the sportier setup, including sport-tuned suspension, sport-tuned steering, 19-inch wheels, and a power tailgate.
- Sienna XLE: This is the comfort-focused step up, with leather upholstery, heated front seats, a power sunroof, and automatic headlights.
- Sienna Limited: Pick this if you want the most upscale version, with premium audio, Smart Key, memory settings, parking sensors, and second-row lounge-style captain’s chairs.
Safety equipment is concentrated on the higher trims, with Blind-Spot Monitor, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Safety Connect appearing on the Limited.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Toyota Sienna?

- Inventory: There are 977 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.54% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 54.4% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $12,489, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Toyota Sienna's resale value?
The current average of $12,876 sits slightly below last year's $13,211.
That softer pricing suggests the market has moved in buyers’ favor, which can make it easier for you to purchase at a reasonable entry point. For a future seller, the current trend implies you may need to price competitively if you want to move the vehicle quickly.
The model’s practical reputation and strong owner satisfaction should help support demand when it is time to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Toyota Sienna safe?
The 2014 Toyota Sienna earns a three-star crash protection rating for the front-seat passenger in a frontal-impact crash from NHTSA, while the rest of its crash-test results are described as impressive.
It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.
The available safety suite includes a panoramic reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, automatic high-beam headlights, Safety Connect with Automatic Collision Notification, Blind-Spot Monitor, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, and a Pre-Collision System that tightens the seat belts and prepares the braking system for maximum stopping power.
A key caveat is that Toyota reserves some of the best safety equipment for the most expensive versions, and the lack of Lane-Departure Warning is specifically called out.
Should I buy a 2014 Toyota Sienna or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 54.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.54% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2014 offers strong practicality and value, with a utility-first design that suits family use.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $15,489, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $12,876 average.
- It brings numerous upgrades and stronger safety appeal.
The bottom line: If you want the better bargain, the 2014 is the smarter buy because pricing has softened and inventory is available. If you can stretch your budget and want the newer version’s broader improvements, the 2015 is the stronger upgrade path.
