How much does the 2014 Toyota RAV4 cost?

Prices are up 3.22% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,909 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2014 Toyota RAV4 a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Toyota RAV4 earns a 4.9/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 8/10.

Drivers consistently praise its reliability, smooth driving experience, and spacious interior. The user feedback also points to good gas mileage and practical everyday usefulness, especially if you want a crossover that prioritizes utility over flash. That lines up with the overview: this is a spacious, practical crossover with class-leading cargo capacity, making it a strong fit if you value function first.

31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2014 Toyota RAV4 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback repeatedly highlights reliability, and the model is described as dependable and practical for a variety of needs. The expert evaluation also calls it a dependable option, reinforcing the idea that this is a vehicle you can count on for everyday use. The performance write-up adds that it behaves well in typical commuter and city driving, which supports its reputation for trouble-free ownership.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that condition and maintenance history matter more than the badge itself, so a well-kept example is the one to target.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Toyota RAV4?

At 53.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually strong. Focus on body condition, repair quality, and whether the vehicle drives as smoothly as expected, since the model’s value proposition depends heavily on being a clean, well-kept utility vehicle.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Limited trim adds the most equipment, including the full Entune JBL multimedia setup and the Technology Package with blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, lane-departure alerts, and auto high beams. The base setup is much less feature-rich, so you should pay close attention to what safety and convenience gear is actually included.
• Powertrain: The RAV4 uses a single 176-hp 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder engine with a 6-speed automatic. It is tuned more for smoothness and everyday commuting than quick acceleration, and the write-up notes that passing power is limited.
• Safety package: The Technology Package adds blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, lane-departure alerts, and auto high beams. Those features are limited to the Limited trim with that package, so lower trims miss out.
• Infotainment: The Limited trim’s JBL multimedia system brings the full Entune app and services experience, along with navigation. The screen can be finicky and washes out in sunlight, so test it carefully.
• Fuel efficiency: The RAV4 is rated at 22 mpg city/29 highway with AWD and 24/31 with FWD.

Which 2014 Toyota RAV4 trim should I buy?

The 2014 Toyota RAV4 is offered in 1 trim level: Limited.

Here's the short version:

The Limited is the trim to focus on if you want the most complete version of this RAV4. It adds the richer JBL multimedia setup, navigation, and the available Technology Package, which brings blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, lane-departure alerts, and auto high beams. If you want the best-equipped version and can verify the condition, this is the one that makes the most sense.

The safety-package features are only available on the Limited with the Technology Package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Toyota RAV4?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,909 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.22% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 53.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,843, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Toyota RAV4's resale value?

The current average of $13,524 sits slightly above last year's $13,102.

That upward move suggests the market still sees value in this model year, which can help support resale strength if you buy well and keep the vehicle in good condition. The combination of practical utility, strong owner satisfaction, and steady demand makes it easier to imagine a future buyer responding positively to a clean example.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Toyota RAV4 safe?

The 2014 Toyota RAV4 earns a four-star rating from NHTSA for frontal crash protection and rollover, and five-star ratings in all other NHTSA tests. It also received the IIHS rating of Poor in the small-overlap frontal-offset crash test.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The RAV4 includes 8 airbags, full-length curtain airbags, a driver's-knee airbag, whiplash-injury-lessening seats, and stability and traction control. The available Technology Package adds blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, lane-departure alerts, and auto high beams, but those features are limited to the Limited trim with that package.

The weak small-overlap result is the main caution here, so safety-minded used buyers should pay close attention to crash history and repair quality.

Should I buy a 2014 Toyota RAV4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 53.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.22% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 stands out for class-leading cargo capacity and dependable everyday usefulness.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $14,612, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $13,524 average.
• It brings improved crash-test ratings and a more appealing overall safety profile.

The bottom line: buy the 2014 if you want the lower price and strong practicality, especially if you find a clean, well-kept example. If safety improvements matter more than saving money, the 2015 is the better path.
