How much does the 2014 Toyota RAV4 cost?

Prices are up 2.48% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,905 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable range of choices.

Is the 2014 Toyota RAV4 a good car?

Yes — 4.9/5 from owners, which is a strong signal that you’ll likely appreciate its everyday usability. The expert rating is 6.5/10, and the standout strength is Form and function at 8/10.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, smooth driving experience, and spacious interior. They also highlight the practical AWD setup and good gas mileage, which fits a crossover that’s built around utility rather than flash.

That lines up with the overview: you’re looking at a roomy, easygoing crossover that’s best if you want space and versatility more than excitement. With 31.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s also a decent amount of market value to consider.

Is the 2014 Toyota RAV4 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. Reviewers repeatedly describe it as reliable, and the feedback also points to a smooth, trouble-free ownership experience that many buyers can count on.

The expert evaluation reinforces that dependability angle by calling it a practical choice with a dependable character. The cost-effectiveness commentary also frames it as a sensible family option, especially if you value utility over flash.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a well-used example may have been chosen for practicality over careful preservation, so condition matters a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Toyota RAV4?

At 54.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, repair quality, and whether the vehicle’s safety equipment and electronics work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Limited trim adds the most equipment, including the JBL multimedia system, navigation, blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, lane-departure alerts, and auto high beams. Base trims are much simpler, so you should pay close attention to feature gaps if you want the more advanced convenience and safety tech.
• Powertrain: The RAV4 uses a 176-hp 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder with a 6-speed automatic. It’s tuned more for everyday commuting than quick passing, so you should expect relaxed acceleration rather than strong punch.
• Safety package: The Technology Package adds blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, lane-departure alerts, and auto high beams. Those features are limited to the Limited trim with that package, so lower trims miss out.
• Infotainment: The Limited’s Entune JBL multimedia system includes apps and services, navigation, and a touchscreen interface. The screen can be finicky and can wash out in direct sunlight, so test it carefully.
• Fuel efficiency: The RAV4 is rated at 24 mpg city and 31 mpg highway with FWD, or 22 mpg city and 29 mpg highway with AWD.

Which 2014 Toyota RAV4 trim should I buy?

The 2014 Toyota RAV4 is offered in 1 trim level: Limited.

Here's the short version:

The Limited is the trim to target if you want the most complete version of this RAV4, especially because it’s the one tied to the richer infotainment and safety content. It’s the best fit if you want the added convenience features and can live with the higher price.

The safety-package note matters here: the blind-spot, cross-traffic, lane-departure, and auto high-beam features are available only with the Limited and Technology Package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Toyota RAV4?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on a strong listing.

• Deal availability: 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,905 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.48% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 54.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,843, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Toyota RAV4's resale value?

The current average of $13,550 sits slightly above last year's $13,223.

That upward move suggests the market still values this model year’s practicality and reputation. If you own one in good condition, you may benefit from steady buyer interest rather than sharp depreciation.

The price range also shows that well-priced examples still move within a fairly tight band, which can help support resale confidence. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Toyota RAV4 safe?

The 2014 Toyota RAV4 earns a four-star rating for frontal crash protection and rollover from NHTSA, and five-star ratings in all other NHTSA tests. The IIHS gave it a Poor rating in the small-overlap frontal-offset crash test, though it earned Good ratings in other tests.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety equipment includes 8 airbags, full-length curtain airbags, a driver’s-knee airbag, whiplash-injury-lessening seats, and stability and traction control. The available driver-assistance features include blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, lane-departure alerts, and auto high beams, but those are limited to the Limited trim with the Technology Package.

The main caveat is the weak small-overlap result, so you should pay close attention to crash history and repair quality when shopping used.

Should I buy a 2014 Toyota RAV4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 54.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.48% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It offers a practical, roomy crossover setup with class-leading cargo capacity and a dependable reputation.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $14,624, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $13,550 average.
• It brings improved crash-test ratings and a more appealing overall package.

The bottom line: If you want the lower entry price and a proven practical crossover, the 2014 makes sense. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer version with better safety standing, the 2015 is the cleaner long-term pick. Price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2014, while shoppers prioritizing safety improvements may prefer the next year.
