Why it stands out
The 2014 Toyota Camry stands out as a straightforward, sensible midsize family sedan that emphasizes affordable, safe transportation over flash. It is described as the peak of the bell curve for midsize family sedans, with nothing wrong with it but also nothing especially inspirational, which neatly captures its appeal: it aims to do the basics well rather than chase excitement.
One notable distinction is that a 2014.5 model built after December of 2013 is the version rated a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. That makes this Camry especially appealing to buyers who prioritize safety alongside everyday practicality. Owner feedback also points to reliability, comfort, fuel efficiency, a spacious trunk, and a smooth ride, while some drivers wished for a backup camera. Taken together, the 2014 Toyota Camry comes across as a dependable, value-focused choice for commuting and traveling.

Test drove one and its comfortable as the Ford Fusion, has the leg space for taller folks in the rear. The trunk space is adequate enough to fit 4 large duffel bags flat + 1 on top of those so if youre planning a trip and have a lot of goodies, you dont need a roof rack to transfer them ( unless you have something more than 4 ft, like fishing rods or tripods etc ). Ride is good and absorbs bumps well. The cars roll isnt hard when turning at speed and it can do 15 to 55 in a great amount of time when you need to accelerate going onto the highway. I would say if youre looking for used, at a great price, dont hesitate to purchase one! Test drive it first a few times to get a feel. And if it fits like a glove, I say go for it!

If you find a listing below $11,385.55, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2014 Toyota Camry a good car?
Generally — the 2014 Toyota Camry earns 4.4/5 from owners and 7.5/10 from our experts. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.
Owners consistently praise its reliability, comfort, and fuel efficiency, and they also highlight the spacious trunk and smooth ride. That lines up with the Camry’s role as practical transportation for families and commuters, especially if you want a roomy, easygoing sedan that keeps ownership costs in check. The market also shows 28.7% of listings as good or great deals, which supports the value case.
Is the 2014 Toyota Camry reliable?
Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback repeatedly points to reliability, dependability, and trouble-free ownership, with many drivers saying it feels like a car you can count on for commuting and traveling. Expert commentary also emphasizes that it is simple, sensible transportation and notes that it rates well in quality, dependability, and reliability studies. It also includes free scheduled maintenance for the first two years or 25,000 miles of driving.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by heavy daily use.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Toyota Camry?
At 45.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection matters here, especially if you’re comparing cars with similar prices but very different condition histories. Focus on signs of uneven wear, repair quality, and whether the car still feels tight and well maintained on the road.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base Camry L is the most stripped-down version, while the LE adds a fancier grille, automatic headlights, and remote keyless entry. The XLE adds fog lights, extra chrome trim, 17-inch aluminum wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated outside mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, and an Entune Audio Plus infotainment system. The SE adds a sport suspension, paddle shifters, unique 17-inch wheels, fog lights, a body kit, a rear spoiler, and sport fabric seats with leatherette bolsters.
- Powertrain: The Camry SE is offered with a 178-horsepower, 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that should return 28 mpg in combined driving. The optional 3.5-liter V6 feels stronger than its 268-hp rating suggests and is estimated at 25 mpg combined.
- Safety package: Blind-Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are available on the SE, XLE, and XLE Hybrid. Safety Connect is limited to the XLE and Hybrid XLE, and it adds Roadside Assistance, SOS Emergency Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification, and a Stolen-Vehicle Locator.
- Infotainment: Entune is the main touchscreen system, and the LE can be optioned with Entune Audio Plus. The XLE includes Entune Audio Plus, while higher trims can add Entune premium audio, Entune App Suite, and navigation. The system is generally easy to use.
- Fuel efficiency: The 4-cylinder SE is rated at 28 mpg combined, the V6 at 25 mpg combined, and the Camry Hybrid is rated at about 40 mpg combined.
Which 2014 Toyota Camry trim should I buy?
The 2014 Toyota Camry is offered in 4 trim levels: L, LE, XLE, SE.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The Camry L is the most basic version, with very limited upgrades and a plain setup compared with the better-equipped trims.
- Sweet-spot trim: The Camry LE is the best value for many buyers because it adds a wider range of colors, a fancier grille, automatic headlights, and remote keyless entry without moving too far upmarket.
- Premium/top trim: The Camry XLE is the best choice if you want the most comfort-focused setup, with fog lights, extra chrome, 17-inch wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated mirrors, dual-zone climate control, and Entune Audio Plus.
- Off-road trim: The Camry SE is the one to skip if you want the softest ride, since its sport suspension is firmer and you’ll feel more bumps in daily driving.
Safety Connect is limited to the XLE, and Blind-Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are available on the SE, XLE, and XLE Hybrid.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Toyota Camry?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without rushing.
- Deal availability: 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,484 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 45.4% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $11,385.55, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Toyota Camry's resale value?
The current average of $11,814 sits slightly above last year's $11,723.
That small increase suggests the Camry has held value fairly well rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For a future seller, that kind of stability is helpful because it points to a market that remains predictable and easy to price. It also means you’re less likely to face a sudden drop in value if you own the car for a few more years.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Toyota Camry safe?
It earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota’s Safety Connect telematics system is available only on the XLE and Hybrid XLE, and it includes Roadside Assistance, SOS Emergency Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification, and a Stolen-Vehicle Locator. Blind-Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are available on the SE, XLE, and XLE Hybrid, but not across the full lineup.
One important caveat is that the 2014.5 model built after December 2013 is the one with the stronger IIHS result; earlier builds were rated Poor in the small overlap frontal-impact test.
Should I buy a 2014 Toyota Camry or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 45.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- It offers simple, sensible, affordable, and safe transportation for families and commuters.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $13,080, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $11,814 average.
- It adds more stylish exterior design and a refined interior.
The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2014 is the easier buy because pricing is stable and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to pay more for fresher styling and a more refined cabin, the 2015 is the better upgrade; price-sensitive buyers should stay focused on the 2014 and shop condition carefully.
