Used 2014 Subaru Legacy for Sale nearTrenton, NJ

How much does the 2014 Subaru Legacy cost?

Prices have softened 2.99% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 393 listings available, which suggests a modest but workable pool of used Legacy options.

Is the 2014 Subaru Legacy a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Subaru Legacy earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.3/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

Drivers consistently praise its safety, comfort, reliability, all-wheel-drive performance in winter, and fuel efficiency. That lines up with the Legacy’s role as a practical family sedan that emphasizes value, confidence in harsh weather, and everyday usability over flash.

The market also looks reasonably favorable, with 28.8% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2014 Subaru Legacy reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback repeatedly points to reliability, dependability, and a car you can count on, especially for winter driving and everyday use. The expert evaluation also describes the Legacy as a smart buy with strong long-run ownership value, and notes that it isn’t expected to cost very much to own over time.

The ownership risk for used buyers is mainly about finding a well-kept example, since condition and maintenance history will matter more than the model’s overall reputation.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Subaru Legacy?

At 59% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the car has been maintained consistently, since those factors matter most when you’re sorting through mixed-condition used inventory.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base 2.5i is the least expensive entry point, while the 2.5i Premium adds a 10-way power driver’s seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, a reversing camera, Bluetooth, and an upgraded stereo with HD Radio, satellite radio, USB, iPod, and auxiliary inputs. The 2.5i Sport adds 18-inch aluminum wheels, fog lights, fake carbon fiber dashboard trim, a power sunroof, and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror with a Homelink garage door opener. The 2.5i Limited adds leather seats, woodgrain trim, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a premium Harman Kardon audio system. The 2.5i Sport is the best-looking choice in the expert’s view, while the Premium is the better value for shoppers who want more equipment without moving too far upmarket.
• Powertrain: Most models use a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with 173 horsepower and a CVT that helps the car feel stronger in real-world driving while improving fuel economy. A 6-cylinder 3.6R Limited is also mentioned for buyers who want extra power and performance, and all models have standard all-wheel drive.
• Safety package: EyeSight is available on the 2.5i Premium and 2.5i Limited, but not on the 2.5i Sport. The package includes adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, and lane departure warning.
• Infotainment: The available Starlink system is paired with the optional navigation system, and it supports iPhone pairing, contact downloads, calling, and music streaming. The screen and interface are criticized for unresponsive touch controls and weak graphics.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.5i model is rated at 24 mpg city, 32 mpg highway, and 27 mpg combined.

Which 2014 Subaru Legacy trim should I buy?

The 2014 Subaru Legacy is offered in 4 trim levels: 2.5i, 2.5i Premium, 2.5i Sport, 2.5i Limited.

Here's the short version:

• 2.5i: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Legacy formula with standard all-wheel drive and the 2.5-liter engine. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model and don’t need extra convenience features.
• 2.5i Premium: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the CVT, a 10-way power driver’s seat, Bluetooth, a reversing camera, and a better stereo with more connectivity. It also unlocks EyeSight, which makes it the trim to target if safety tech matters to you.
• 2.5i Sport: This is the style pick, with 18-inch wheels, fog lights, and a more distinctive look. The expert calls it the best-looking Legacy, but it skips EyeSight, so it’s better for buyers who care more about appearance and handling feel than driver-assistance tech.
• 2.5i Limited: This is the comfort-and-luxury choice, with leather, woodgrain trim, dual-zone climate control, and the premium Harman Kardon audio system. It suits you if you want the most upscale cabin in the lineup.

EyeSight is available on the 2.5i Premium and 2.5i Limited, but not on the 2.5i Sport.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Subaru Legacy?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without rushing.

• Deal availability: 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 393 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.99% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 59.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $8,189, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Subaru Legacy's resale value?

The current average of $8,689 sits slightly below last year's $8,957.

That decline suggests the market has softened, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit near-term upside if you plan to resell soon. For future sellers, the good news is that the Legacy’s value proposition remains anchored by its all-wheel drive, safety reputation, and practical ownership appeal.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Subaru Legacy safe?

The 2014 Subaru Legacy earns an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating and a five-star overall crash-test rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

EyeSight is the named driver-assistance suite, and it includes adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, and lane departure warning. It is available on the 2.5i Premium and 2.5i Limited, but not on the 2.5i Sport.

One caveat is that NHTSA also gives the Legacy a three-star rating in the side-impact pole test, so you should keep that in mind when comparing it with rivals.

Should I buy a 2014 Subaru Legacy or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.99% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 stands out for standard all-wheel drive, strong fuel economy, and a value-focused ownership story.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $10,426, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $8,689 average.
• It is bigger, better looking, and more polished inside.

The bottom line: If you want the lower-priced, value-forward choice, the 2014 is the better buy. If you’re willing to spend more for a roomier and more upscale-feeling sedan, the 2015 is the better path.

How does the 2014 Subaru Legacy compare to the 2014 Honda Accord?

Our experts score the 2014 Subaru Legacy 7.3/10 and the 2014 Honda Accord 9.2/10.

The Legacy gives you standard all-wheel drive, stronger winter confidence, and a lower average used price. The Accord counters with more power, better fuel economy, and a stronger expert score overall. If you want the more affordable all-weather sedan, the Legacy makes sense; if you want the more polished all-around midsize sedan, the Accord is the better pick.
