Summary
With 771 currently listed for sale and an average price of $10,826.00, 31.0% of 2014 Honda Pilots for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2014 Honda Pilot 4.44 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.83 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2014 Honda Pilot stands out as a practical midsize crossover SUV built around space and utility. It has lots of room for people, lots of room for cargo, and lots of room to stash all your stuff, making it a strong fit for buyers who need a family-size vehicle that can carry as many people and as much gear as possible while still fitting within owners’ budgets and garages.
That focus on function over style is central to its appeal. The 2014 Honda Pilot might not be pretty or the most technologically sophisticated conveyance, but it is designed to do the job well, and that straightforward approach is part of why it can be so appealing to the people who need it most. Owner feedback also points to spacious seating, reliability, comfort, and versatility as recurring strengths. At the same time, some drivers have noted hard shifting and a wide turn radius, so its strengths in practicality come with a few everyday compromises.

I cant say enough about this vehicle. Its my truck!! I currently have a 2009 and I will be upgrading to this model. The safety rating is high , and very comfortable at that. The cargo space stands out above all others, all adults and children in carseats have space. Most vesitile vehicle seat related, cant beat 8 seats!! Love this vehicle!!

The pilot is a solid vehicle if you take care of it. My sister in law bought one new in 2003 and still has it. My son has a 2013 with 111,000 miles. If you take of it and do the required maintenance it will last well over 200,000 miles. Dont skip the timing belt interval this is a interface engine and will be junk if the belt breaks.

The Pilot seems to be in good condition. That said, it had been involved in a more serious accident which gave me reason to hold off on its purchase. In addition there were approximately $2,000 in fees that made me walk away.

I sold Hondas for 5 years and the only thing I would change is the brand of tires. I would go with Michelins which is what came on them from the factory when I was selling them.

How much does the 2014 Honda Pilot cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $10,874 |
| Year-Round Low | $10,620.72 |
| Year-Round High | $11,263.36 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $11,044 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −1.53% |
Prices have softened 1.53% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 739 listings available, which suggests you have a workable amount of inventory to compare.
If you find a listing below $10,620.72, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2014 Honda Pilot a good car?
Generally — 4.44/5 from owners points to strong satisfaction with this model year. The expert rating is 6.83/10, and the model scores 8/10 across Performance, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.
Owners repeatedly praise the spacious seating, comfort, reliability, and versatility, which lines up well with the Pilot’s family-first mission. The overview also frames it as a practical midsize crossover built around room for people and cargo, so it makes the most sense if you value utility over style or cutting-edge tech.
The market shows 23.3% of listings as good or great deals, so there is some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2014 Honda Pilot reliable?
Owners rate it 4.44/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback repeatedly highlights reliability and comfort, and it also describes the Pilot as a vehicle many owners can count on for family use. The expert evaluation adds that reliability is expected to be better than average, and the cost-effectiveness section reinforces that ownership can be manageable over time.
Honda’s straightforward mechanical setup and reputation for practical durability support that view, though used buyers should still watch for wear-related issues and verify maintenance history carefully.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Honda Pilot?
At 56.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are comparing multiple examples at similar prices. Focus on signs of prior bodywork, uneven tire wear, and any evidence that the vehicle has been used hard in daily family duty.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The LX is the least expensive version and comes with the basics, while the EX adds 18-inch aluminum wheels, a 10-way power driver’s seat, remote keyless entry, and a security system. The EX-L adds leather seats, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a power sunroof, and a power tailgate with separate liftglass, while the Touring adds navigation, a rear-seat entertainment system, a premium audio system, memory for the driver’s seat, and unique machined-finish wheels.
- Powertrain: Every version uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 250 hp and 253 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 5-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive is standard, and 4WD is available with a system that can send power rearward as needed and lock for better traction at low speeds.
- Safety package: Honda’s ACE body structure is standard, and the Pilot includes Bluetooth, a USB port, triple-zone climate control, and a basic reversing camera. Higher trims add more convenience and infotainment, but the model still lacks many modern driver-assistance features.
- Infotainment: Standard equipment includes Bluetooth, a USB port, and a basic reversing camera. The EX-L can add navigation or rear-seat DVD entertainment, and the Touring combines both with a premium sound system and a 115-volt power outlet.
- Fuel efficiency: The Touring 4WD is rated at 17 mpg city/24 highway/20 combined, and 4WD-free versions improve by 1 mpg in each category.
Which 2014 Honda Pilot trim should I buy?
The 2014 Honda Pilot is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Touring.
Here's the short version:
- LX: This is the value-focused starting point if you mainly want the Pilot’s space and utility at the lowest entry price. It keeps the formula simple, so it suits you best if you do not need the extra comfort and convenience features found higher up.
- EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds useful everyday upgrades like a power driver’s seat, remote keyless entry, and a security system without jumping all the way to the pricier leather trims.
- EX-L: Choose this if you want a more family-friendly cabin, since it adds leather seats, heated front seats, a sunroof, and a power tailgate. It is the right middle ground if comfort matters more than keeping the purchase price as low as possible.
- Touring: Pick this if you want the most equipment, including navigation, rear-seat entertainment, premium audio, and driver-seat memory. It makes the most sense if you plan to keep the Pilot loaded for long trips and passenger comfort.
The safety content notes that the Pilot lacks many modern driver-assistance technologies, so even higher trims do not fully close that gap.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Honda Pilot?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

If you find a listing below $10,620.72, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Honda Pilot's resale value?
The current average of $10,874 sits slightly below last year's $11,044.
That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point if you plan to keep the vehicle for several years. For a future seller, the current trend implies less near-term upside, but it also means the Pilot is already priced in a way that may reduce some of the depreciation pressure ahead.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.44/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Honda Pilot safe?
It earns four-star ratings in crash testing from NHTSA, and the IIHS called it a Top Safety Pick.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Honda’s ACE body structure is standard, and the Pilot’s safety story is helped by its solid crash-test performance. The catch is that it lacks many modern driver-assistance technologies, so you should not expect the kind of active-safety suite found in newer family SUVs.
Should I buy a 2014 Honda Pilot or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 23.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 56.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.53% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.44/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- It delivers a practical, space-first family layout with strong utility and straightforward ownership appeal.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $11,747, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $10,874 average.
- It remains a spacious, 3-row, 8-passenger family SUV with a familiar formula.
The bottom line: If you want the lower purchase price and are comfortable with older tech, the 2014 is the smarter buy. If you can spend more and want the next model year’s slightly updated family-SUV proposition, the 2015 is the secondary path, but it does not change the Pilot’s core formula enough to outweigh the 2014’s value for many shoppers.
