How much does the 2014 Ford Explorer cost?

Prices have softened 7.77% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,800 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.

Is the 2014 Ford Explorer a good car?

Yes — the 4.5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise its comfort, space, and performance, and they also highlight its stylish design and value for money. For you, that makes it a compelling choice if you want a roomy midsize SUV with a family-friendly feel and useful everyday versatility. With 29.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2014 Ford Explorer reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that many people find dependable in daily use, especially when it comes to comfort and overall ownership experience. At the same time, some owners mention maintenance costs and concerns with specific high-mileage models, so you should pay close attention to service history and condition. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is manageable if you choose carefully and verify how the vehicle was maintained.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Ford Explorer?

At 61.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and service history before you commit. A pre-purchase inspection should be a priority, especially if the vehicle has higher mileage or incomplete maintenance documentation. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the SUV has been cared for consistently, since those factors matter more than mileage alone.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Ford Explorer?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you know what you want.

• Deal availability: 29.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,800 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.77% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $9,056, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Ford Explorer's resale value?

The current average of $9,056 sits slightly below last year's $9,819.

That price movement suggests the market has softened, which can limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at a strong price and keep the vehicle in good condition, you can help protect your future resale position. Demand should remain supported by the Explorer’s broad appeal to shoppers who want space, comfort, and a family-friendly SUV.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2014 Ford Explorer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 29.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.77% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2014 if you want a well-liked, value-oriented Explorer and you’re willing to shop carefully for condition and history. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may also be worth considering, but the 2014 stands out as a balanced choice when you want comfort, space, and a strong owner satisfaction signal.
