You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with accident records. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you should have a reasonable shot at preserving value when it is time to move on.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2014 Dodge Challenger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $21,008, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $16,351 average.
• It adds a refreshed look and updated feel.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2014 is the stronger starting point because it keeps the Challenger’s core appeal at a lower average price. If you are willing to spend more for a newer-feeling alternative, the 2015 is the better secondary path.
