Drivers consistently praise its classic muscle-car styling, impressive power, and spacious interior, and many also like the comfort and fun-to-drive character it brings to everyday use. Is the 2014 Dodge Challenger reliable?

Owners rate it 4.38/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience for many drivers, with praise centered on comfort, power, and the kind of character people can count on over time. That said, the model-year notes also flag engine concerns for 2012 to 2014 examples, so long-term ownership risk is worth taking seriously on the used market.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Dodge Challenger?

At 56.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on body condition, paint consistency, and signs of past collision work, then make sure the car drives cleanly and all features operate as expected. Because this model year has known engine concerns, a thorough mechanical inspection matters just as much as cosmetic condition.

The current average of $16,699 sits slightly above last year's $16,468.

That modest increase suggests the market has held up reasonably well for this model year, which can help support future resale if you buy at the right price. If you pay attention to condition, mileage, and accident history, you improve your odds of preserving value when it’s time to sell. Strong demand for the Challenger’s styling and performance character should continue to help keep interest steady.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.38/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2014 Dodge Challenger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.40% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.38/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $21,177, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $16,699 average.
• It adds a refreshed take on the Challenger with a more polished everyday feel.

The bottom line: If you want the lower entry price and are comfortable shopping carefully, the 2014 is the better value play. If you’d rather spend more for the newer model’s updated feel, the 2015 is the better secondary path for buyers who prioritize refinement over price.
