About 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT
Overview

More refined than its equally large Tahoe sibling, the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT can hold up to seven passengers in three rows, and boasts two powerful engine choices -- a 4.2-liter, 275-hp I6 or 5.3-liter, 290-hp V8 with Displacement on Demand (where cylinders shut off when not in use, for better fuel economy), both matched to a 4-speed HydraMatic. The EXT means 16 inches more in the wheelbase to accommodate the third row, and an angled roofline means rear seats are raised for better passenger visibility (though this increases rear blind spots).
New features for 2005 include power rear quarter windows for third row passenger comfort. Side curtain airbags are a new option, along with a CD/MP3 player. Interior improvements add extra comfort to seat cushions, more chrome accents, and an updated dash display. The 2005 Trailblazer EXT comes in either LS or LT trims, offered in both rear-wheel or four-wheel drive. ABS brakes, dual front airbags, traction control (on rear-wheel drives only) are standard, along with full power features and a CD player. The LT adds some luxury with a power driver's seat and cruise control.
The cargo area is spacious, expanding from 23 to 107 cubic feet, and features a hard shelf instead of a soft cover. Both second and third rows fold, though not flat. Legroom is ample for drivers, and gradually diminishes as you reach the back row. Handling and towing capacity suffer a bit with the heavier EXT as compared to the regular Trailblazer, and the AWD also adds more weight. Though holding the same number of passengers as the Tahoe, the 2005 Trailblazer EXT is easier to handle, say drivers, and the powertrain is impressive and responsive. The ride is smooth and the long list of standard equipment at a lower price point than rival SUVs keeps owners happy. A bland interior is disappointing, as is difficult access to the third row and the fact that the seats do not fold flat. The 15/19 mpg is not why you buy this SUV.

I have the 5.3 in my trailblazer and it goes good has great take off but loses at high end... gas mileage is about16.5-17.3. I bought it with 30,000 and has just about 70,000 miles now and has had no major problems. The truck is fun to drive especially with having 300 horse but the gas milage does hurt a bit on long trips.

Good car for groups of up to seven people. Great for going up to the mountains and on trips. Handling is typical for a larger vehicle, not a sporty ride but not bad either. Fuel economy varies from 14 to 21 for the worst (mostly city) to the best (all highway) I've seen. Typically I get 16 to 17 mpg with mostly around town driving.

Nice ride with lots of room, and decent gas mileage. However, accessibility to the third row could be improved. The headrest of the second row seat, hits the front seat when folding. The Trailblazer drives like a luxury car, and has very little pitch when turning corners. Overall, a very nice ride for the money.

Good value for the price. Older vehicle but in relatively good shape.
