Overview
Due for a redesign the next year, the 1996 Toyota Camry did not change much from the previous year. For the first time, leather seating was an option in the LE trim levels of the Camry sedan, coupe, and wagon.
The 1996 Toyota Camry sedan was available in the DX, SE, LE and XLE trim levels. The coupe came in the DX, SE and LE trim levels. The base DX version of the wagon was dropped in 1995, leaving only the LE. Available engines were a four-cylinder, 2.2 liter or a V6, 3.0 liter. Fuel economy was about 20 to 30 mpg, depending on the engine. The interior of all 1996 Camrys was well-designed, featuring comfortable seats, plenty of head and foot room, and easy to reach, logically-placed control buttons.
Owners of the 1996 Camry say that the car is not much fun to drive. Except for in the SE model, the ride feels “floaty†and almost too quiet and smooth, and there is not much interaction with the road. However, the Camry is meant to appeal to a wide audience, and many commuters might prefer a car they don't have to think about. By 1996, the Toyota Camry had firmly established its reputation for reliability and longevity.

The Camry was a fair price considering the fact that it will last a long time. Reliability is excellent. Gas efficiency is excellent. The maintenance on the vehicle is cheap. I recommend anyone who is looking to purchase a vehicle to Toyota Camry 96

Very cheap good for anyone’s first car very reliable engine and transmission, has 436,000 on engine perfectly sound transmission has 190,000 on always perfectly maintained. Great fuel mileage, smooth ride new struts, shocks. All interior is in great condition everything works.

My camry is an ugly green color with a very plain body style. It's comfortable to ride in and easy to drive. Visibility is superb and handles well for a larger vehicle. Huge trunk and ample cabin room. It's been the most reliable car I've owned to date. Gas mileage is terrific, although it leaks oil. It's no sports car, but has some get up for a four cylinder.

Vehicle 1996 Toyota Camry 4 Dr Collector Sedan Review Very well built (much better than most new cars), incredibly reliable. The V6 is very smooth and quiet but it lacks low end torque and seems to bog if you step on it. Ride is very smooth but floaty and needs to be more controlled. Steering is not very sharp. Tranny shifts well most of the time, but short shifts in normal mode and hangs on to revs too much in power mode. Quality of materials and build is awesome. Leather is excellent quality but front seat padding is hard and pinches the thighs. Overall a very good car with some minor shortcomings. Favorite Features Reliability, build quality, smooth and quiet, up to 37mpg (imp gals) on the hwy, feels like it will last forever. Suggested Improvements None.
