2025 Lexus TX Preview - summary

What’s New for the 2025 Lexus TX

The TX was a new model in 2024, so changes for 2025 are minimal. The only update Lexus issued was a new F Sport Handling trim, which brings several styling updates but no meaningful performance improvements.

Design

The TX borrows heavily from the Toyota Grand Highlander, upon which it is based. It sports the brand’s signature oversized grille and sharp front-end accents, but it’s otherwise a friendly-looking three-row SUV. Lexus offers a range of wheel choices, and exterior accent options vary between trim levels.

Powertrain

The gas TX comes standard with a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, making 275 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. It’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front- or all-wheel drive (FWD or AWD). The TX Hybrid has the same engine and two electric motors, making 366 combined horsepower, and the PHEV model offers 404 horsepower. Fuel economy is strong across the board, with even the gas model returning up to 27 mpg on the highway with FWD and 26 mpg with AWD.

Unlike some luxury three-row competitors, the TX lacks an adaptive suspension option. It’s clear Lexus tuned the suspension for comfort over performance, as the TX can feel a bit lumbering at times. That said, the comfort tuning yields a smooth ride in most situations, and the cabin remains stunningly quiet, even on less-than-perfect road surfaces.

2025 Lexus TX Preview - interior

Interior

The TX seats seven people on standard synthetic leather upholstery. Heated front seats are standard, but Lexus offers semi-aniline leather, a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, and heated and ventilated second-row seats. Cargo space is generous, measuring 20.2 cubic feet behind the third-row seats and up to 57.4 cubic feet with the third row folded flat. The space expands to around 97 cubic feet with the second and third rows folded down.

Technology

Standard tech features include a 14-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, 12 speakers, a virtual assistant system, multiple USB charging ports, ambient interior lighting, and multi-zone climate controls. Available features include SiriusXM radio, navigation, and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster.

Safety

The 2025 Lexus TX comes standard with several advanced driver-assistance features, including forward collision warnings, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, safe-exit warnings, automatic high beams, and pedestrian/cyclist detection. Available tech includes blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, parking sensors, a surround-view camera, a head-up display, a parking-assist system, and a rearview mirror camera system.
