What’s New for the 2025 Toyota Grand Highlander
Toyota introduced the Grand Highlander in 2024 as an all-new model, so the SUV carries over into the 2025 model year unchanged.
Design
The Grand Highlander follows the direction set by the standard Highlander model, which includes revised styling compared to earlier versions. The SUV has a more muscular look with a boxier shape and more upright grille. Exterior trim and accents vary between models, with top trims getting chrome accents and lower models featuring black or body-colored trim. Toyota offers a range of wheel choices, including chrome and aluminum options, depending on the model.
Powertrain
While the Grand Highlander Hybrid gets two engine choices, the gas-only model makes do with a single powertrain option. It includes a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 265 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque, which reaches the front or all four wheels (FWD or AWD) through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Though smaller than earlier models’ V6, the newish turbo-four offers strong acceleration and smooth power delivery. It’s also relatively quiet, even under heavy throttle, making the SUV more relaxing to drive on longer trips.
Interior
The Grand Highlander seats up to eight people with the available second-row bench seat, though variants with captain’s chairs limit seating to seven. Synthetic leather upholstery comes standard, along with heated front seats. A heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, and heated and ventilated second-row seats are available. All three rows offer a generous amount of space, and adults can surprisingly ride comfortably in the third row.
Technology
A 12.3-inch touchscreen and 7-inch digital gauge cluster come standard on the 2025 Grand Highlander, along with wireless smartphone mirroring, voice commands, wireless charging, six speakers, a wealth of USB ports, SiriusXM, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and more. While most automakers withhold the best features for higher trims and added-cost options packages, the Grand Highlander comes equipped with all the good stuff out of the box.
Safety
While the 2025 Grand Highlander is too new to have received full crash-testing from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), Toyota equips a long list of standard safety tech for added peace of mind. They include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, lane-departure alert, traffic-sign recognition, a rearview camera, and more. A head-up display, a surround-view camera system, a rearview camera mirror system, and other tech is available.
Pricing and Release Date
The 2025 Grand Highlander is on sale now. As of the time of this writing, the 2025 Grand Highlander XLE starts at $43,630. The Limited trim costs $48,360, and the top Platinum trim starts at $54,045. Hybrid models are also available, which extend in price to $58,775.
